Don’t forget it’s coffee morning time this Thursday! We came so close to raising enough money to sponsor a guide dog puppy last month. Let’s see if we can hit the target this month!

Looking forward to seeing you ☕️☕️

The Last Quiz Night on Earth - showing this week!

Kathy and Ray invite you to The Last Quiz Night on Earth.

This is the setting for Alison Carr's explosive pre-apocalyptic comedy The Last Quiz Night on Earth. Landlady Kathy invites you to the last quiz night on earth with Quizmaster Rav. He’s the host with the most, but with time ticking, some unexpected guests turn up out of the blue. Bobby wants to settle old scores and Fran wants one last shot at love.

Watch the action unfold in front of you as you take part in the quiz. Grab a drink from the bar and join us for a night you won’t forget.

On Tuesday 23rd May 2023, Upton suddenly and unexpectedly lost one of its most loved residents, Elspeth Caroline Holmes. Elspeth, 80, delivered the Marshland Mardler to homes in Upton for many years. Her husband of 59 years, Keith, would like to thank the Norfolk Accident Rescue, the Ambulance Services and all the neighbours who made valiant attempts to save Elspeth's life. Keith said "I am so overwhelmed by the cards and messages showing how she was liked in the village. Thank you all." Further details of Elspeth's funeral will be announced in due course.

Blofield & District Gardening Club

The Club celebrated its Golden Anniversary last year, having offered 50 years of gardening advice and sociability to hundreds of local residents. The anniversary was marked in June 2022 with a celebration after the monthly meeting, and by the printing of an Anniversary pamphlet outlining all that had been achieved over the years. In recognition of the “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee” initiative as well as to mark the Club’s anniversary, the committee decided to purchase a Golden Noble apple tree with accompanying explanatory plaque. The tree was planted in the Blofield Community Orchard on Friday, 10th March 2023 – in blizzard conditions unfortunately! The committee is very grateful to Richard Codling, who oversees the Community Orchard, for selecting and planting the tree on the Club’s behalf. The plaque reads “Golden Noble – planted to celebrate 50 years of the Blofield & District Gardening Club – 1972 – 2022”.
