อุ๋งๆ cute little sound made by a seal, and a nickname we call 'em


Seal! Seal everywhere! These charming seals, Gifko and Gofki tried various Thai cuisines- some too spicy for their little tongue. The little bubble creature created by magic, Pikarin, tags along them as the trio are depicted in the artwork.

I stumbled upon Pum’s ปุ้ม (not sure if her name in English is spelled correctly or not) artwork from the previous illustration fair or art market and really fell in love with her coloring technique, art style, and of course, the cute characters.

I was really happy to meet her at the Bangkok Illustration Fair - once again, big congratulations to you Gifko & Gofki and all the finalist artists!

Today Dec.10 - is the last day of the Bangkok Illustration Fair at BACC!

Pain is a feeling that everyone can relate to.


Mac, the artist, depicts characters with sad expressions and in this “Meltboy - on an (n)ordinary day” series, reveals daily life scenarios of human longing to be happy…pushing through the struggle and challenges in life.

Although very simple, Mag’s artwork centerpiece is always the big round surprised gaze with a droplet of tear dripping from the eye.

I find the expression to be captivating and relatable.

In one of his artwork for the series, he depicted the shock when the hairstylist trimmed one’s hair slightly too short. And “It’s Time to Bloom”, another piece that reminds us that each time we are disappointed in ourselves, we will overcome that disappointment by learning from our mistakes and growing from it eventually.

Tomorrow, Dec.10, is the last day of the event. The Bangkok Illustration Fair brings talented artists together in one place.

Kant is one of the new faces that I’ve met on my visit at BACC for the .
His booth is set up in a way that really caught my eyes. As I got closer, he introduced me to “Mr.Halfman”

Mr. Halfman is a storyteller from the parallel universe. In his “ordinary” universe where he exists, his form is depicted in black with a white line that runs vertically, dividing his face in half.

The design of the character that questions the world and our existence makes Kant’s work stand out.

Kant pointed to one of his works - Mr.Halfman- and explained that while you’re happily eating ice cream, in a parallel universe, you could have accidentally dropped the ice cream and felt sad about it.

While one canvas showed a negative possible outcome, portrayed in colors, the other canvas portrayed in black, revealed a positive outlook in a situation.

When I asked P Tan what kind of cat would he want to adopt in the future if he has the chance to do so, he mentioned “probably one like See-Ew ซีอิ๊ว”

There is something charming about black cats that both of us can agree on. Their big round (usually) yellow eyes contrast with their black fur.

Oh, but See-Ew one has one eye. See-Ew and Batsy, two of the many interesting and unique characters designed by Tan-staR

Although he may not remember me, I was glad to meet him at BKKIF - it really is a huge achievement for fellow artists to be there.

I didn’t expect to meet P Tan at the booth, but was very fortunate to meet him when I visited the Bangkok Illustration Fair 2023 at BACC 7th floor. It was over 3-5 years ago- I knew of Tan when I was still studying for my BFA in Animation degrees. One of those times, I attended a presentation where Tan showcased his AniMaytion challenge. I was inspired by the efforts and diligence that Tan puts into creating his artwork.

Now he has a collection of crafted sculptures of his very own characters and is most likely working on some cool projects!

BKKIF is at BACC until Dec.10!

I've been following Chorkung - ฉ่อกุง's work for many years now and finally had the chance to meet the artist, P Kung, at Bangkok Illustration Fair 2023.

I love the warm, vibrant colors that she used and how she portrays "Red Loving Wolf" as a kind friend. I wonder if the leaves that Wolf and Red uses as umbrellas are the same type of plant as the one Stump is holding?

Another one of my favorite is the illustration of a father with two little children in an aquarium. The majestic size of the whale and the empty space used, along with the monochromatic hue of blue reminded me of my childhood when my parents took my sister and I to aquariums. I can remember vaguely how excited I was.

Kung captures these happy, excited moments very well.
