The most unexpected twist in our story!! We are leaving Japan & we have so many feelings coexisting at the same time!! Go watch our YouTube video posted today to get allll the details. To answer a few q’s….Yes, it was our choice to move AND yes we wish we had more time in Japan! Time was too short here & this move is definitely bittersweet, but… we’ve thought long and hard about what this move will mean for our family and it feels like the right one! 💛✨

Willa went sweet potato picking with her Yochien for her Autumn field trip! She was so proud of them! She helped wash them & prepare them for our soup. At school this week, they washed more of them, watched the Sensei’s roast them & then had a picnic outside. 🍠🧺

There have been other days at Yochien where she learns about different types of fish & has even watched them prepare them. We absolutely love the the food interactions she is having! Nothing beats hands-on, farm-to-plate food experiences. She has always been a little foodie, and these just make her more of one! 😋😋

Going “home” to Utah always brings back so many emotions! We absolutely cherish the time with our families (& wish we had more of it to spend with them + friends!). AND, in the same breath, it feels a bit odd to be back in a place that feels familiar, yet increasingly foreign.

Our concept of “home” has changed so much over the past 3.5 years. Truthfully, so much about us and for us has changed over the past 3.5 years!

The way we see the world, the way we move through the world, the goals we once had & are now creating, the things we once believed to be true-it’s all shifted and evolved.

Our experience abroad so far has been more expansive than we would have ever assumed. For us this means we experience our “home” in a different way then we used to. It can be conflicting and a bit heavy to reflect on. And that’s okay. We know it’s just as it should be.

Saying goodbye to those in our circle is always hard, but this time we already have a date for when we will be back (normally we don’t)! We miss you already family! See you next Summer Utah & Konnichiwa again, Japan! 🇯🇵🌊☀️

Living abroad has really changed us!! Even typing that makes us be like well “duh” most people are touched and changed in some way by their environment and location. We think that’s one of the most beautiful parts about life!! Reflecting on our lives now compared to 2021, when we were living in the US, is really interesting and healing! We see so much growth and maturity in ourselves! It hasn’t always been easy, but we are so proud of us and definitely grateful we’ve had some you with us for the highs + lows along the way! 💗

Happy Fathers Day (& late birthday shout out too lol) to this guy! Tanner is the kinda Dad who draws cats on pink paper for his 1 year old because he knows she gets excited when she sees them, and does daily language learning activities with our 4 year old making it such a fun experience for her! ☀️ those are just two examples of soo many. he’s present and purposeful and we are all obsessed with him!! 🤍 Hope you all have a great Sunday!!
