Kesem at the University of Miami: Recap 2023 ✨
“There’s nothing better than knowing that someone actually knows how you feel about having a parent with cancer. There’s just something about Kesem that is just truly amazing.” 🥹
Words can’t describe how much it means to me to have captured the magic again as a Photographer and the Videographer for my home chapter & alma mater @kesemumiami. There are no words to fully capture how it feels to watch the campers grow up from the time I met them as a sophomore in college. To every camper & volunteer who welcomed me and allowed me to authentically document the magic — thank you. 💙💚
Thank you to everyone who donated to the University of Miami’s chapter one week ago as they fundraised on #givingtuesday (the national day of giving) for their chapter of @kesem, a nationwide non-profit dedicated to supporting children impacted by a caregiver’s cancer. They will continue to fundraise throughout the year, and need your help to reach their goal of $75,000 — for more information, visit their instagram! 🐛🦋

Kesem at William & Mary University: Recap 2023 ✨
“Even though cancer has caused a lot of pain, it allowed a lot of people to come to this great camp and experience each other. It allowed me to have fun at a time that I was scared to have fun. This is somewhere that you can relieve that stress that cancer brought down on you.” 🥹
It can always be a little nerve wrecking to attend a new chapter of Kesem for the first time, but while being the Photographer/Videographer this summer with @kesem_wm, I was immediately welcomed into their family with open arms. I had an incredible week, and met people that I will truly never forget. To every camper & volunteer who welcomed me and allowed me to authentically document the magic — thank you. 💙💚

Thank you @kesemumiami and @kesem for allowing me to continue pursuing my love for telling stories that deserve to be told, through the non-profit that holds such a special place in my heart. It is an honor for me to be Rugrat and to continue making videos like this.🦋 #bellarosaproductions

“It happens in a matter of days, and it just doesn’t seem possible, but they leave so much happier and so much more secure with themselves and their situation knowing that they have such a big support system. I think the only word to describe that is ‘magical.’ And that’s what Kesem is all about.”
It’s hard to explain Kesem to those who have never experienced it themselves. But Minnie worded it perfectly.
@campkesem is a nationwide non-profit that provides free yearlong services to help children through and beyond a caregiver’s cancer. But beyond this, it is also a community, a safe place, and a home to so many... Camp Kesem is magic.
Becoming involved with Camp Kesem in 2016 is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Since then, I have served as a counselor, an executive board member, an admin member, a photographer, a videographer, and an advisory board member. I’ve experienced Kesem magic across the country at three different chapters. And each time, at each Kesem event I have ever attended, I am completely blown away by the strength of these campers, and by the magic that is provided through Kesem.
Today is #givingtuesday (the National Day of Giving), and you have the opportunity to #givekidskesem. In September, I flew to Michigan and served as the Photographer and Videographer for the @campkesemgvsu Fall Weekend Programming and had the honor to film and edit this video for them. I saw, first-hand, how much the campers truly loved and needed to be back in-person with Kesem after all these years.
The Magic Awaits them this upcoming summer for their first time back at a week-long summer camp since 2019! Donate at the link in their bio and help make the magic happen! 💚💙🐛✨

“We all understand the struggle of having to have had someone in treatment, and it’s good to know that you have people that understand.”
Every story, every experience, every situation is unique and valid in its own way, but as Prongs described perfectly, @campkesem provides a community where everyone is understood and seen.
Camp Kesem Miami (@campkesemmiami) has made me into the person that I am today. I am so grateful to have been asked to come and serve as Videographer for their Fall Day of Programming earlier this month, where I was able to film and edit this project for my alma mater. I reunited with campers that I have known for years (who used to be half my height and are now towering over me), met new camp families (who immediately felt the Kesem magic), but most importantly, I witnessed the powerful impact Kesem truly has on these campers. It was so evident how special and important it was for them to be back together in-person for the first time since 2019.
Camp Kesem Miami serves hundreds of campers in South Florida, but in order to provide year-round support for children impacted by a caregiver’s cancer, this deserving non-profit is in need of your help. Please consider donating today on #givingtuesday (the National Day of Giving) through the link in their bio; the Magic Awaits them this upcoming summer, and you can help make it the best summer yet! 💚💙🐛✨
