People who are good for our mental health will...

🌞 Remind us that we are not broken. We are just human being human.
☀️ Provide a holding space for vulnerability & messy emotions
🔆 Validate our experiences without minimizing
☀️ Find ways to repair when damage has been done
🌞 Make our bodies feel at ease when we are in their presence

Taking care of our mental health is so important, and having the right people around us makes a world of difference. Those who uplift us remind us that we're not broken—we're just beautifully human. They offer a safe space for our emotions, validate our experiences, and help repair any damage with love and understanding. Tag someone who makes your mental health a priority! 🌞💛

If things are not perfect,
Then I will be fired

If things are not perfect,
Then I will be an outcast in my family

What are some of your "if-then" thinking surrounding perfectionism?

Emotional regulation can be particularly challenging for adults with ADHD, often leading to impulsive reactions during moments of anger. Learning to pause and manage these intense emotions is crucial for maintaining healthy relationships and personal well-being. Here are some effective and engaging strategies to help you take a pause and regain control.

One quick and effective way to divert your attention is to
📽watch a short video. Whether it's a funny clip or a calming nature video, this can quickly shift your focus and lighten your mood.

Alternatively,
🚶‍♀️going for a walk🚶‍♀️ can be a powerful way to release built-up tension. The physical activity and change of environment can help clear your mind and provide a fresh perspective.

Engaging with a pet🐕 can also be incredibly soothing. Talking to your pet or simply spending a few minutes cuddling them can lower stress levels and bring a sense of calm.

If you're looking for a quick mental break, 😜browsing through memes 😜 can provide a good laugh and a much-needed distraction.

Lastly, immersing yourself in a 📖 short story can transport you to another world, allowing your mind to relax and reset.

By incorporating these activities into your routine, you can create a toolkit for effectively managing anger and enhancing emotional regulation.

I want to start a "mini series" here on IG since emotional regulation can be tough for us ADHDers.

Some advice on how to handle these emotions and the ways in which we should respond to them.

We are going to kick it off with Anger.

When I'm feeling angry I will..

⏳️ Pause until I'm able to think clearly so I can respond rationally instead of reacting.

Taking a moment to breathe and collect our thoughts can make a world of difference. Remember, it's okay to step back and give yourself the space you need to process your emotions.
