Continuing with the revitalization of TBD … Dan and I just released episode 23, where we discuss a post-apocalyptic tale from Fritz Lieber, “A Pail of Air.” Better known as a fantasy author (he is the guy who wrote the books that made Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser legends), Lieber was also a prolific sci fi author.

Give it a listen. I know you want to hear Dan’s advice about wearing assless chaps in an apocalypse.

After a bit of a hiatus from publishing episodes, TBD - To Be Determined is back. Stop by an listen to Dan Kamm and I discuss R.A. Lafferty's "Encased in Ancient Rind."

Although most people seem to have never heard of Lafferty, Neil Gaiman calls him the best short story writer of all time. High praise, indeed. "Ancient Rind" is a strange post-apocalyptic tale that poses many questions, including ... does more life bring you greater wisdom?

I know you missed us.

After an unintentional break sparked by some technical issues, we finally released Episode 21 of TBD, your home for contemporary explorations of classic sci fi short stories. Sorry to make you wait for it.

Ep21 features a pair of stories that describe futures where population control is a defining force in human life: Alice Glaser's "The Tunnel Ahead," and Kurt Vonnegut's "2BR02B."
