God's Rain Water - For Humans & Gardens Enjoyable conversations about the Bible, God, and life in general!

Hey folks, sorry I haven’t done much posting here of late. To be honest I’m likely going to shut this group down soon as I download some of the content and save it.

I started this under the best intentions as an online variant to my ‘printed’ Rainwater… but it’s not been very successful nor popular and there just hasn’t been any interest in it.

I’m not being snarky, that’s just the truth of it and there’s no need to pretend otherwise.

Most likely I failed to get the interest going, so it’s surely my own fault, however I have to say that I got ZERO encouragement from people that I assumed (and we all know what you get when one assumes, right?) would be happy to see such content and support it at least to some ‘small’ degree of interest.

I gotta’ say it’s tough (kind of like spitting in the wind) to do ANY new Christian thing. People don’t care for it, and by that I don’t just mean non-Christians! Even regular church-goers aren’t too enthusiastic about any slight change in their habits or new content/things especially if it requires more than five seconds of concentration.

Look to the AMEN section of your churches… how many regularly donate a single “Amen!” Towards a song, prayer or sermon?

Why?

Laziness. That’s why. That and a sense of entitlement without any required ‘give-back’ to others that DO contribute.

New ideas popular? In a church or Christian social group? Ha! 😝

Anyway, I’m not throwing shade at anyone in particular or at any group or whatever… I am merely stating a problem that I personally see in our churches… all of them I have been to.

Too much the congregations want to keep the ‘status quo’, the old way of doing things because it is both convenient and comfortable.

They fear change. They fear the new, the different, things outside the daily norm. It is stressful.

And so it goes.

Life hasn’t changed in a zillion years. And I am guilty as well.

Adios!

Lynn

The way the world is... really is... is near too frightful for we mere humans to look at. Which is why (I think) so many times we humans have to put on our 'rose-colored' glasses to bear to look at it. We often prefer to imagine the world the way we would 'like' it to be rather than how it 'really' is. We pretend we have the answers, the solutions, the knowledge to deal with life and the world. We will spout bits and pieces of broken knowledge in an attempt to 'pretend' to be more than we are. We disguise ourselves with masks and cloaks to appear as if we're someone else. We play 'catchup' with our friends and neighbors in an attempt to 'blend in' with everyone else.

And I ask... Really? Is this the way? Is this how it's done? Is this what living is all about?

I know I've worn the mask, played 'keep up with the Joneses,' spouted things as If I was an expert, camouflaged myself in the cloaks of my peers to pretend to fit in, be someone else other than I am. ---and I am sorry for all that!

The truth is, I've been a fool more than a genius, I've been ugly more than looked good, I've stuck out like a sore thumb rather than 'fit in' and I've many times made a mess of things rather than fixed them. ---and why? Well, because I was a coward and put on those 'rose-tinted' glasses. I allowed society to pull me in rather than to remain my own man... to remain God's man.

Thankfully, I've come back to the fold.. I've gotten 'back' on track with my life and with the Lord. I've laid down my rose colored glasses. And HE has blessed me SO much because of that. We're a team now, God and I, and we're going to make it through the remainder of my life (whatever length that may be) and we're going to have a wonderful time doing it.

This does NOT make me a religious zealot! No... it makes me God's man. He can count on me to 'try' to do the right thing whenever I can... and I can count on his good will whenever I run into something I can't handle on my own. It's a GREAT partnership... :-)

An amazing photo of a flipper I found stuck on my deck screen. To me it looks very much like a symbol of Jesus on the cross.

Your opinion?

(Finally) Third edition of God’s Rainwater is out, ( many months late!) took some to church Sunday and also left some at Bell’s Restaurant on the inside ledge. Will be taking some to Sweetlips Store but haven’t been by there yet. This edition highlighted the food that Jesus and the people of His time ate! Check it out!

On the little booklet; I know many may think it useless, unnecessary, perhaps even silly... I understand how you might feel that way. I do. However God has put it on my heart to do this and if it somehow only helps/entertains ONE person then I will feel glad I went to the trouble to do it.

I can’t be concerned what others think when it has to do with my God! 😇

I really feel that EVERYONE has some mission from God... do we do it? Or do we don’t do it and pretend it’s okay if we don’t?

😥😥😥

A little bit of extra effort never hurt anyone, so why not just do it?

Sweetlips Baptist Church ladies (or men, not to leave the gents out if you cook! 🤗 )

If you’re a member OR a regular goer/visitor to us, please, if possible, proudly participate!

Pat and I are going to do a small ‘Sweetlips Church’ cook/recipe booklet. I’d like to ask you to help us out with a couple (or more if you want) of you and or your family’s ‘favorite’ recipes! They can be any sort of dish, —main course, and/or side dish, and even a dessert if you want?

Beverage (tea/coffee drinks/lemonade/ice cream/frosty/etc) drink recipes also welcome!

Anything goes, complicated or easy, but please remember the easier recipes usually get cooked more often than the complicated ones. 🥴 —But it’s YOUR call!

A little bit of info about the recipes would be good too (your husband’s fave food or your mother’s recipe and so on or the first food you learned to prepare and so on!). Can be handwritten and or typed, no problem which.

Anyway we can discuss this more this coming Sunday at Church. Questions? Ideas? Bring ‘em on!

We want to make this a ‘fun’ thing! ❤️😇

HE gives snow like wool; HE scatters the frost like ashes; HE casts out HIS hail like morsels; Who can stand before HIS cold? HE sends out HIS word and melts them; He causes HIS wind to blow and the waters flow.

Well, Christmas if done ...for now, and a New Year fast approaches. Another year seemingly 'flying' past right before our eyes!

As in Christmases gone by, I am once again both heartened and disheartened by people I know. Let me get upon my soapbox for a brief moment. (LOL!)

I say I am heartened because I see even complete strangers STILL showing some Christmas spirit by greeting us with a hearty (or sometimes a 'half' hearty--but hey half is better than zero) Merry Christmas!

On the other hand I am sort of 'disheartened' by folks...even family...that seem to want to blow off Christmas as if it were just 'TOO MUCH TROUBLE' for them to lift a finger to acknowledge it.

B'ah Humbug! (Well, I suppose that's the correct comment!)

Many, and this definitely includes folk that are in pretty good shape, shun Christmas Giving like the plague. They seemingly can't be bothered to lift a single finger and pickup a tiny ornament, Christmas card, trinket, apple/orange/bag of cheap nuts, and so on... even when OTHERS make sure to ALWAYS gift them some small something.

Amazing!

Their excuse? (Oh yes they have them.) Is like "well, there are JUST so many folk to buy for this year... (some will add) _we're just giving gifts to the children." (Hey, ever heard of DOLLAR TREE?) Or, they'll say, "oh we're short this year and can't gift anybody anything!" (as they happily purchase carloads of gifts for themselves! G'ah!

Look... it's not the SIZE of the gift that matters...it's the THOUGHT to a friend/loved one/family member! The THOUGHT that 'you' thought of 'them' and remembered to give them an apple, or an orange or a greeting card or a stick of gum.

That's what matters the most.

The thought!

And no lame-brain half-arse excuse is going to cover up your LACK of a good thought towards others.

You come off as a thoughtless, uncaring CAD. And deep-down, you know it too! But you're too greedy/uncaring to give a hoot!

Our Bible teaches us to GIVE. Jesus gave freely (and his Father, our God, has ALWAYS given freely...look at the world around you!) But 'you' can't be bothered to give someone a card, a dollar tree trinket, a .50 cent bag of nuts/candy bar, etc???????

This goes for the Children's Toy Drive Boxes too. You can't drop by the Dollar Tree and grab some small dollar toy and drop in those boxes?

What elderly neighbor did you drop off food for this year? Or even bother to send a 'get well' or 'Christmas card' to?

What old friend did you phone to wish a 'Merry Christmas!' to?

But...chances are you didn't leave out YOUR family and YOUR SELF from getting something,,,right?

Oh, don't get me wrong...I am NOT excluding my own self from missing MULTIPLE opportunities to give this year. Ha! I am guilty as an egg-sucking dog! And yet I made poor efforts (no excuse, just saying) and no doubt there are many that cannot say that.

For the love of God and Jesus... GIVE. And stop with the excuses. Sure, it's not possible to give to everyone, I get that, but make an effort to GIVE something (even a hearty 'hello' beats nothing) to the folk in your life and around your life.

Be aware of the folk around you and if nothing else... give LOVE.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... from God's Rain Water!

We had a wonderful service at Sweetlips Baptist this past Sunday! Brother Ricky was in FINE form and the Spirit of God was with him strongly... and afterwards we had our Christmas fellowship in our food area and wonderful food from all the lovely ladies of our church. (THANK you, ladies! It was delicious!)

Pat and I sang Christmas songs and though it was hard to get past the talking, we pushed on and enjoyed the effort. Ha! A fun day, a wonderful day of the Lord!

Psalm 147
1 Praise the Lord.
How good it is to sing praises to our God,
how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.
6 The Lord sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the Lord with grateful praise;
make music to our God on the harp.
8 He covers the sky with clouds;
he supplies the earth with rain
and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 He provides food for the cattle
and for the young ravens when they call.
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
12 Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;
praise your God, Zion.
13 He strengthens the bars of your gates
and blesses your people within you.
14 He grants peace to your borders
and satisfies you with the finest of wheat.
15 He sends his command to the earth;
his word runs swiftly.
16 He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
17 He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
18 He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
19 He has revealed his word to Jacob,
his laws and decrees to Israel.
20 He has done this for no other nation;
they do not know his laws.
Praise the Lord.

A little pop quiz? 😉

Where in the Bible are these verses?

“He anoints my head with oil. My cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

On edge? Anxious? Stressed? Bothered/Worried? Nerves bunched up/tight/in a jumble?

Been there and done that, I assure you! And 'still' get that way sometimes (sadly enough.) But read the below bible quote and BELIEVE, and he will grant you solace. I kid you not because it is a solid. God provides relief, but you can't buy his relief or pick it up at Walmart (or anywhere else.) Read the scripture below to learn the way......

Philippians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Can it get any more true than this quote from Proverbs?

Proverbs 17:17 A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

Prayers for Brother Ricky as he is pretty sick (possible Lyme Disease or Tick Fever...don't know yet but symptoms similar so far.)

Very cool morning this morning but beautiful from God!

Sorry folks... no new Rain Water (hard copy) this cycle (every two weeks.) So much to do and so tired... can't get it done. Heck, can't get anything done much! Phew!

A Poem by Me:

Summer Morn ~ Tween Light & Dark
(Lynnon Bullman--6/25/2017)

Summer morn upon my porch, with sleepy dog by side of course, air so fresh it fills my chest, a gift of coolness from night's sweet breath.

In nearby trees the birds a flutter, with start of daily chores no stutter; -they have no choice of lazy hours, as meals for wild things chance devours.

Across the pasture the horses trot, shaking their heads in half forgot, dreams of green meadows upon Heaven's sweet hills, where happy angels plant and till, the dark, rich soil of endless morn's, awaiting dear friends come Gabriel's horn.

My coffee cup empty I suddenly pout, though filled to brim when I came out, so though I'd love to refill that cup, tis hard to make my-self get up, and leave this peaceful place outside, where squirrel's chatter and rabbits hide.

The drowsy sun will soon awake, and roll it's rays 'cross nearby lake, and morning's sweet mist will start to lift, and make me sad to lose that gift, but night has run it's allotted time, now comes the day and Sol's bright shine.

Right then and there I bend a knee, and ask dear Jesus a simple plea; "keep hearts a-beating in happy hope, lend strength for toils and skills to cope, against daily woes of life deflect, my family and friends please do protect, and keep those Summer morns so sweet, and keep me strong and on my feet."

I cannot live without the above, for there is all the things I love; the family ---yes, ---the pups and chicks, the goat ---and yes, I'm a Country Hick, that rises early to catch night's shade, and smell the sweetness that our God gave, to all of us tween dark and light, tween sleepy dream and wakeful sight.

Tis time to end this as family stirs, tis time to shake off the sticky burrs, of fanciful thought and drowsy muse, and play my part in daily news; -and yet a parting thought I send;

---"good day to you, my dear, dear friend."

Mary... came to our home starving and with a crippled paw. She has grown into a happy, loving girl and does not think of herself as a cripple or feel sorry for herself in any way! She has Pat and I for protection... we all have God. Shouldn’t ‘we’ at least feel as happy and secure as little Mary?

The Mighty Lord ‘sure’ is blessing us with moisture this year, Amen?

Pat broke her arm/shoulder this past Thursday so I’ve been rushed to bits with double duty to care for her and keep homelife running—just me and her here with no help other than God and ourselves. Thankfully God provides, cause I sure ain’t the man I used to be (if I ever was, big sigh!) HE__makes a way. We’ll make it thru as we always do.

At the Bone & Joint Clinic now.

Will advise. Need prayers.

Belated birthday present for my wife, Pat. One of her fave songs. Happy birthday!

Religion & Life

How can modern men and women live a happy, fun, fulfilling life in today’s outrageous age? Well, unbelievable as it may sound...it IS possible, as all things are possible through God.

Don’t believe in God, you say? __Well, you’re still welcome HERE, alas don’t think for a second though that I won’t try to convince you otherwise...lol! You see I “KNOW” God exists; his magnificent splendor is ALL AROUND us...ALL THE TIME. Everything we know, touch, see, smell, hear, taste and so is merely a strange (and unlikely) Cosmic Accident? __Come on! __Get real! There is perfection and super intelligent design in ALL things we experience as humans, and it is so obvious that there should be no ‘honest’ debate about it. If you argue God’s existence and his marvelous/perfectly working creation... you’re arguing with your own self, Not me. LOL! Anyway, this place is for everyone. You don’t have to be religious to be here and or even contribute. Just be peaceable and have a good time and ALL will be well. Thank you for coming. And if you’ve read my little (free) booklet and enjoyed it in some small manner, by all means let us know here. Ideas and suggestions ‘also’ highly appreciated. And, good and thoughtful conversation is simply adored! Lynnon (Lynn to most people)
