Hey folks, sorry I haven’t done much posting here of late. To be honest I’m likely going to shut this group down soon as I download some of the content and save it.
I started this under the best intentions as an online variant to my ‘printed’ Rainwater… but it’s not been very successful nor popular and there just hasn’t been any interest in it.
I’m not being snarky, that’s just the truth of it and there’s no need to pretend otherwise.
Most likely I failed to get the interest going, so it’s surely my own fault, however I have to say that I got ZERO encouragement from people that I assumed (and we all know what you get when one assumes, right?) would be happy to see such content and support it at least to some ‘small’ degree of interest.
I gotta’ say it’s tough (kind of like spitting in the wind) to do ANY new Christian thing. People don’t care for it, and by that I don’t just mean non-Christians! Even regular church-goers aren’t too enthusiastic about any slight change in their habits or new content/things especially if it requires more than five seconds of concentration.
Look to the AMEN section of your churches… how many regularly donate a single “Amen!” Towards a song, prayer or sermon?
Why?
Laziness. That’s why. That and a sense of entitlement without any required ‘give-back’ to others that DO contribute.
New ideas popular? In a church or Christian social group? Ha! 😝
Anyway, I’m not throwing shade at anyone in particular or at any group or whatever… I am merely stating a problem that I personally see in our churches… all of them I have been to.
Too much the congregations want to keep the ‘status quo’, the old way of doing things because it is both convenient and comfortable.
They fear change. They fear the new, the different, things outside the daily norm. It is stressful.
And so it goes.
Life hasn’t changed in a zillion years. And I am guilty as well.
Adios!
