IMO STATE GOVT RESCUES GIRLS TRAFFICKED IN GHANA
In a commendable display of swift action and commitment, the Imo State Government has successfully rescued a group of young girls from Imo State, who were victims of human trafficking in Ghana. The distressing situation came to light after a video surfaced online, showing the plight of these trafficked girls, sparking widespread concern.

IMO GOVT APPROVES THE INVESTMENT OF $200M FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF ORASHI ELECTRICITY COMPANY
The Imo State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved a $200 million investment for the establishment of the Orashi Electricity Company.
The Governor announced this during the inauguration of members of the Electricity Regulatory Commission and the House of Assembly Service Commission, stated that the investment, secured through private partners, will be entirely funded by these partners, with no financial contribution or borrowing required from the state.
Expressing his confidence in the power project, the Governor said that Imo State will soon experience 24-hour steady power supply in all the Local Government Areas, with the Orashi Electricity Company Limited fully activated to light up Imo come January 2025.
He emphasized that the key to the economic boast of a state starts from a steady power supply, highlighting that the project is expected to create numerous job opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Madkour Group to establish the Orashi Electricity Company. The agreement was finalized in a ceremony held at the Government House in Owerri on Saturday, 1st June 2024, signaling a major advancement in the state's energy infrastructure.
The partnership aims to leverage the expertise of the Madkour Group, an Egyptian renowned international player in the energy sector, to develop a sustainable and reliable electricity supply for the State.
The Governor expressed that the business of Electricity supply needs technical and financial partners which informed the decisions of Imo State Orashi Electricity Company to collaborate with the Madkour Group, to generate, transmit, and distribute power to Imo people come January 2025, next year.
The CEO of Madkour Group, Dr. Mostafa Madkour who was present at the signing ceremony, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering high-quality projects and contributing all resources to the development of the State's energy sector.

In a significant step towards enhancing public health in Imo State, First Lady Barr. Mrs. Chioma Uzodimma launched the hepatitis C elimination and hepatitis B control program. This initiative underscores the state government's commitment to tackling the dangers posed by these viral diseases.

TRIBUNAL JUDGEMENT : GOV. UZODIMMA DEDICATES VICTORY TO GOD.
Following the judgement of the Imo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal that struck out petitions filed by the duo of the Labour Party’s Candidate Sen. Athan Achonu and Sen. Samuel Anyanwu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and upheld the victory of the Governor, His Excellency Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, CON has dedicated his victory to God Almighty.
Addressing newsmen at the government house , Owerri,on Friday shortly after the judgement, the Governor expressed delight over the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal that affirmed his victory. He noted that the judgement was an unequivocal affirmation of the popular mandate given to him by Imo people.
Governor Uzodimma noted that his victory was divine and a true reflection of the choice of the majority of Imo people. He Commended the Tribunal for their thoroughness and lucidity in delivering the judgement.
The Governor however commended his opponents for approaching the Tribunal to ventilate their grievances and emphasized that it is a clear demonstration of their belief in the principles of democracy and the imperative of civility in the conduct of political actors.
Governor Uzodimma called on his political opponents to join hands with him to move Imo State forward.

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT SHOWS SUPPORT FOR IMSU JUNCTION ACCIDENT VICTIMS
The Imo State Government has visited victims of the recent accident that occurred at Imo State University junction.
The team which was led by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady Mrs. Chinyere Ekomaru (PhD), expressed sympathy and concern for the victims currently receiving medical attention at the Federal University Teaching hospital, Owerri.
According to the Chief Medical Director of Federal Medical Center, there were 13 accident victims, 2 were brought in dead and the rest of the victims have been stabilized with some booked for surgery.
This gesture underscores the state government's dedication to the welfare and care of its citizens, especially in times of need.

GOVERNOR UZODIMMA ASSENTED IMO ELECTRICITY BILL INTO LAW
Governor Uzodimma has officially signed the Electricity Bill into law at the New Exco Chamber, Government House Owerri. This development marks a pivotal moment in the state's efforts to improve access to reliable electricity for its residents.
Emphasizing the importance of uninterrupted power supply for economic growth, he announced the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to take over the Egbema Power Plant, which has been abandoned since 2006 and an MOU has been signed for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in the State with a reputable Company.
The Governor is optimistic that within 12 months, Imo State's power infrastructure will substantially improve, thanks to the new legislation.
