Beaver River baseball team enters Section 3 tournament on a roll
Despite losing star pitcher Jonah Shearer to graduation first year coach Brandon DeLong's squad is right back in the hunt for section 3 supremacy.
The pitching rich Beavers have one of the deepest rotations in all of Section 3. This was never more evident than last week when they tossed back to back no-hitters in two blowout wins in run rule shortened games. Sophomores Cooper Joslin and Carter Rice combined to blank Lyme in a 20-0 route then fellow classmate Kade Schneider kept Lafargeville hitless in a 5 inning game.
Staff ace Jacob Boliver backed those games up with a 4 hit the following day in a 4-3 win over Adirondack in a non league win last Thursday. The beavers enter the class C tournament at the number 2 seed with a 18-2 overall record with blemishes to only Lowville and South Jefferson (both Class B programs). They host Frankfort Schuyler today at 5 pm.
South Lewis defeated Port Byron 6-0 last night to move to 10-10. The falcons travel to Weedsport today in round of 16 action.
In other action Lowville hosts Adirondack tonight at 6 pm with the winner moving on to quarterfinal action on Thursday versus either Mexico or Westhill.
