Beaver River baseball team enters Section 3 tournament on a roll

Despite losing star pitcher Jonah Shearer to graduation first year coach Brandon DeLong's squad is right back in the hunt for section 3 supremacy.
The pitching rich Beavers have one of the deepest rotations in all of Section 3. This was never more evident than last week when they tossed back to back no-hitters in two blowout wins in run rule shortened games. Sophomores Cooper Joslin and Carter Rice combined to blank Lyme in a 20-0 route then fellow classmate Kade Schneider kept Lafargeville hitless in a 5 inning game.
Staff ace Jacob Boliver backed those games up with a 4 hit the following day in a 4-3 win over Adirondack in a non league win last Thursday. The beavers enter the class C tournament at the number 2 seed with a 18-2 overall record with blemishes to only Lowville and South Jefferson (both Class B programs). They host Frankfort Schuyler today at 5 pm.
South Lewis defeated Port Byron 6-0 last night to move to 10-10. The falcons travel to Weedsport today in round of 16 action.
In other action Lowville hosts Adirondack tonight at 6 pm with the winner moving on to quarterfinal action on Thursday versus either Mexico or Westhill.

Welcome message:
Today we launch a new page for one purpose..... Serving our area. In recent times we all have seen that the media has had less of a role in informing the public. This is a dangerous trend. An uninformed public can't be a good thing? The media has been demonized by some groups, but we have all seen that national and state wide news sources are struggling. There is a major void as print media has made cuts. If you watch so called cable news they are more in the business of entertainment.
The philosophy here is a simple one. We have no agenda. All view points are important and you will hear in the months and years to come different views. However, news reporters shouldn't determine the news, but simply report. There will be national and state wide reporting when news items arise. Local government reporting and sports will be covered by Lowville's Ed Murphy. Next week is the deadline for local candidates for this year's election to file to be on the ballot. Next Friday, the stage will be set and candidate interviews and feature articles will take place.
We also welcome community events. As the weather turns(despite today's latest snow fall), the Black River Valley will become a bustling center of activity from craft fairs, to benefits to church events, get your event promoted 📢
We also are looking for anyone who would like to submit press releases.
A policy on "letters to the editor" will be established and published soon.
If we get a thaw spring sports reports will be coming soon. Look for some live video interviews as well. The hope is to make this page as interactive as humanly possible.
Before you ask..... As of today there is no plan to publish a print edition but who knows. As news breaks, reporting will happen.
Thank you for following. Each Friday there will be a recap of news items to that week and future happening. Next Friday will be the first editorial column. Until then, have a great week😊
