It's been a little while since Iâve done a movie review and now with the podcast going I don't feel like I really need to do these anymore. But of course, I had to do a review for this one. Anyways, with that being saidâŠ
Best of the franchise???
Saw X takes place between part 1 and part 2. With the return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw and 2 other returning characters... one being a small cameo, but during that small 2 minute scene, I felt was one of the biggest impacts of the film. Saw X delivers exactly everything you want and expect from a Saw film and more. If you are a big fan of this franchise, like I am, you will love this entry.
The casting choice was excellent. I can't say they were all very likeable characters because they weren't supposed to be but the roles they were assigned for, they did very well.
Also, to have Tobin Bell back as the main antagonist, like the first 3 films was a really good choice to do so. He has a certain presence about him and when heâs infront of the camera, heâs symbolic and it is not a Saw film without Kramer. 81 years old and the dude will always be a legend, one of the biggest horror icons in horror film history. Not to mention, that Kramer has been around for about 20 years less than a lot of the other big horror icons and has just about the same amount of films and made the same kind of impact in the horror genre, that says something.
The Saw films have always been top notch with everything, from cast, to traps, to effects, to storyline, to pacing, to dialogue. The traps were really inventive (as always). An amazing storyline, the writing was awesome, great dialogue and just like every other Saw film, the pacing is perfect. Keeps you on the edge of your seat once things kick off. I loved the twists and turns and the way everything came together in full circle with this one, I couldnât see it coming, thatâs for sure.
My favourite from the franchise has always been part 3 but after seeing this last night, I can honestly say that this is my new favourite from the franchise. I want to call this a masterpiece, Iâm not going to lie. 10/10.
Ps⊠watch past the credits, very important. I already called it when I heard Kramer talking to him on the phone earlier in the film.
