DNHS starts SEMEK Project through School Pantry
On November 14, 2022, the proponent of the SEMEK (Supporting and Empowering the Mental and Emotional Knowledge) Project started the SEMEK through School Pantry.
The School Pantry aims to provide free lunch to students who don't have food. This will ensure not only the physical health of the students but also their mental health.
"Students couldn't concentrate in their studies if their stomach is empty and if their lunch is only biscuits or street foods. Thus, we started the school pantry," said Jobelle A. Batanes, the proponent of the SEMEK Project. "We can only offer simple viands but we hope it can still be able to help those who are really in need," she added.
Moreover, Jobelle also extends her appreciation to the following teachers, individuals and organizations who helped her make the school pantry possible.
"I want to express my gratitude to Ma'am Clyde Sanone, Ma'am Elizabeth Wais, Sir Ism Claudio, and to the students who donated and those who helped in cooking and cleaning the area. Further, I would like to recognize the
JCI - BAGUIO SUNFLOWER for donating half cavan of rice for the said activity, " Jobelle said.
When asked how long the School Pantry will be open, Jobelle explained that as long as their are individuals and organizations who will help in financing the needed food, then the pantry will be open.
SEMEK Project is an approved Innovation of the proponent by the DepEd Benguet Division and has already conducted several activities for the youth and parents. Also, the project has successfully conducted community pantries in Barangay Daklan and Cobabeng, Poblacion, Bokod, Benguet last year.
