They will be accompanied by a new documentary of interviews filmed in the chapel this week of people in the photographs - including Patsy, the mother of John, lying on the bed kissing his partner, and Sister Jane Bruton and Dr Rob Miller, who looked after John. Trying not to forget all those things that once seemed so important, and the minute you think you know it another challenge appears. How can something so universal as motherhood be so lonely? How come we all have to experience it and there are no answers to all those struggles? What about our bodies, our hormones, our thoughts, our friends, our loves? 💗 Anyone who knows our book Scarti by and knows they have a special place in Trolley’s history 🛒😍and now to help support forthcoming book we have a limited edition available of 30 unique ‘scarti’ from the book printing last month 💗 Andi writes: “Sorry I Gave Birth I Disappeared But Now I’m Back is my first book” - I have never seen printing and editing before. It was like giving birth in many ways. And it feels like being naked and vulnerable again now that it’s out for preorders.
When we were at the printers in Italy Hannah Watson showed me the so called 'scarti': the scrap, the paper that is fed through the printing press to clean the drums of ink between print runs, usually thrown away as a by-product of the printing process. Trolley had previously published a book Scarti by Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin of the amazing scarti from their book Ghetto. I was similarly inspired and I immediately fell in love with the dreamy accidentality of the twice-printed sheets. I asked the printers to do it again and again. It reminded me of the chaos of the first few months. The fading memories and the mixed feelings. The uncertainty and the dreaminess of the rawness."
✨✨✨✨✨✨
There are 30 limited edition scarti pre-orders for £150 each and each one comes with a signed copy of the book and a unique scarti that you can pick (with a surprise other side).✨✨✨✨✨✨

📣NEW BOOK ALERT 2📣 Very excited to announce PRE ORDERS now available for Fast Forward Women in Photography’s book PUTTING OURSELVES IN THE PICTURE 💥 designed to empower women to use photography in pertinent ways to tell stories about their own lives 💥Working with five, progressive thinking partners, POITP engages with groups of refugee and migrant women and nonbinary people whose stories are the focus of this striking book all worked to develop the project and designed a series of empowering skills development activities building confidence for the women participants. Each partner brought their own team of artists, mentors and workshop leaders to work with a group of participants in their own locations. The powerful narratives and inspiring images that emerge from the pages of this book have grown out of the pioneering photography workshops and mentorship activity, devised by our partners and delivered across the UK, and the book is designed by 🛒The project participants Ceecee, Rella, Rhody, Miya, Precious, Raolat, Phim, Maniche, Linda, Nwaanyi Ka Aku, Lovelin, Hannah, Grace, Maureen, Ana, Maryam, Sylvie, Taraneh, Elham, Manar, Vicky, and Josiane have all made work that opens our eyes, enthuses our ideas and crushes stereotypes. Putting Ourselves in the Picture confronts gender discrimination and the marginalisation of women in our societies🛒Fast Forward, based in the UK, is designed to promote and engage with women in photography across the globe. We provoke new debate and ensure, as women photographers and professionals, that we are in the news and in the history books. There are millions of women in the world of photography and we intend to arrest the process of forgetting that so frequently erases women from the burgeoning histories of photography and shed light on new ways of thinking, showing, discussing and distributing our work🔥Book at special price until official launches in Autumn! 💥💥💥

📣NEW BOOK ALERT 1📣 Very excited to announce book with the best title ever SORRY I GAVE BIRTH I DISAPPEARED BUT NOW I’M BACK is now available for PRE ORDER at a special price until official launch in September 💥 “For a very long time motherhood was considered somewhat taboo in the art world. As long as I can remember, female role models I admired openly talked about their choice of career over family. Some might have had children but never talked about their insecurities or sacrifices. Artist and talent awards age limits usually are 35 or younger. But as soon as a woman turns 30 she is often viewed as old and her biological clock ‘is ticking’. The years to make the choice between having children or being successful are short and coincide with the years when one or the other might happen but none are guaranteed. When I realised I was pregnant, I had no idea what awaited me. How messy and how raw, how unpredictable and how out of control motherhood really was compared to the images I had in my mind from films, photos, paintings done by men. Then I was an emerging artist, traveling around and going to art fairs and exhibition openings. Now I am a mother of two working on borrowed time hoping the years I’ve lost mothering can be written into my CV without guilt or shame.
This work in progress, which will always be a work in progress, is about becoming, understanding, and remembering. Our careers, our homes, our dishes, our laundry, our sexual desires? What happened to our freedom, our showers, our sleeping hours?

I love being a mother. I also loved being an artist.

COMING SOON!!! 💥BLOB💥a disgusting book and exhibition project by
💧
It's a vile, miserable little short story about a man whose bones disintegrate, published alongside newly commissioned artwork by Rachel Howard, Olivia Sterling, Mary Ramsden, Shadi Al-Atallah, Glen Pudvine, France-Lise McGurn, Emma Cousin, Gareth Cadwallader and Luke Burton.
💧
Those paintings and drawings will be the core of an accompanying exhibition PV and book launch 23 March 6-8pm💧
Eddy, the art and culture editor, approached a bunch of artists he loves and asked them if they'd be up for making work in reaction to this story he'd written. Was he nervous about sending all these amazing painters what is essentially an incredibly depressing w**k joke? Yes. But somehow, they all said yes, and produced stunning images to go along with the story.
💦💦💦
BLOB is part fiction, part art catalogue, part curatorial project. It's about depression, ageing, anxiety, body dysmorphia and erections, but, you know, in a kinda funny way?

15 May is Nakba Day, which means ‘catastrophe’ and commemorates the 1948 mass displacement of Palestinian people from their homeland. Pictured is a leaflet dropped from the sky into the West Bank by the Israeli army in order to alert teenage boys they are being watched, it is the frontispiece to Scott Caruth’s book ‘Molatham’ which looks at the use of photography in an occupied state as a form of resistance, via the tradition of Palestinian studio portraiture

🏍⚔️ Bosozoku was the first book, published in 2002, to reveal the intimate secrets of Japanese biker gangs, captured by leading Japanese photographer Masayuki Yoshinaga over a six year period. He himself was a member of the Bosozoku, and gained an unprecedented access to their secret societies 🏍🏍🏍The Japanese term ‘Bosozoku’ refers to a specific Japanese phenomenon🏍⚔️the teenage bike gangs based in the urban centres of Japan that gather every weekend in the major metropolises, such as Osaka and Tokyo, for mass rallies of bikers in their thousands 👘 First formed in the 1950s they are also considered to be the first rung on the ladder for would-be members of the Yakuza (Japanese mafia)🏍⚔️

Final day of .collective takeover ⚡️⚡️ a visual research collective using open source data to investigate a variety of unseen and obscured elements in society, business and politics 🕹 GAMING LANDSCAPES 🕹Gaming communities in particular are targeted by far-right recruiters. The spaces they inhabit are used to connect, communicate and radicalise. It’s not simulated guns and pixelated gore that lead to extremism: video game narratives overrepresent right-wing ideologies in the themes explored and presented within them, and offer their users the chance to experience these on a personal level ⚡️⚡️WE MAY MEET ONE DAY is RAKE Collective’s first long-term visual investigation into the growing presence of extreme far-right ideologies within modern society and their intersection with technology and the internet💻🌍It was prompted by the SQL database leak of Iron March, a neo-Nazi and white supremacist online message board in November 2019. While Iron March was a pivotal moment in the momentum of the rise of the far-right online, the landscapes of violence and hate created and fed there were not new, nor did they disappear with the end of the site. Increasing fascist sentiment and visible white supremacy continue to evolve and move to new domains, further hidden from public consciousness while simultaneously intertwined with it.
