Who is The Washington County Auditor?

The Washington County Auditor is an independently ran online news source. We operate strictly on donations at this point. We feel that in this market there is a true void for investigative news coverage to keep our elected employees held accountable, exposing corruption wherever it lives, covering county board meeting and city councils meetings in the county along with covering stories that far too often don't get covered by other media in the area.

We promise to try our best to shine a light in Washington County that for decades has remained dark. Our aim is to be a news source of the people, by the people and for the people.

Hopefully this venture will be successful.

We believe than in a market this size an advertising model is not viable for true news discovery and delivery. In small communities advertising departments don't want the news department ruffling the wrong feathers.So naturally, those kinds of stories don't get told. Because their bottom line is held hostage by small town politics.
