Pardee Road Productions We're an independent film company. Our first film, Solitaire, premiered at the Cannes International How does a perfect stranger become something more?

How do we choose who to let in and who to let go? Solitaire is the story of an emotionally dangerous day in the life of Dave (Eric Cloughley) who has shut himself off from the world after suffering an unthinkable tragedy. He survives on work, delivery pizza and countless games of solitaire until Samantha (Liz Schranck) steps into his life and forces him to confront the question we each face at some point – am I alone because of the cards I’ve been dealt or how I’ve been playing them.

Everyone might not know that before a movie makes its way to the screen an entire team of talented artists makes sure everything looks and sounds just right. This includes everything from adding sound effects to giving the film a customized look and feel.

The group at Periscope Post & Audio took a little time away from their feature and TV work to make sure Recipiphany felt like much more than a short film, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the finished product.

Here’s an SAT question for you: If films are 90% casting and casting directors are a huge part of the casting process, how important are casting directors to making a great film? Answer: ALL THE IMPORTANT!!!

We were so lucky to work with Sarah Clark, CSA and Compass Casting for this project! Not only did they help us find the perfect cast, but they also wholeheartedly embraced our idea to cast as many roles as possible without limiting the breakdown by age, gender or ethnicity. The result was a diverse and incredibly talented group of artists!

When the credits role on Recipiphany, more often than not, people seem to say, “I want to see more!” This is the sign of a short story well told!

Our editor on Recipiphany, Joseph Rabig, did an extraordinary job of packing a complex true story into a very small package. He’s cut projects for IFC, USA, A&E and we were lucky to have his incredible dedication help tell our story.

Someone who had been homeless connected with me after screening Recipiphany to let me know what a great job Preston Tate Jr. did in the film. He felt Preston avoided the stereotypes to create a character that 'rang true' to his experience.

That was definitely our goal while casting the film so we jumped out of our chairs when we saw Preston’s audition. He captured the struggle and optimism of the character and even delivered a little humor to the role! He couldn’t have been more committed or easier to work with.

Continuing to celebrate the talented people that helped tell this story, Piero is an internationally-renowned cinematographer whose work has been featured at Cannes, Venice and many other festivals around the world. He’s also, currently, the chair of the cinematography program at New York Film Academy. He made every frame of the film beautiful and his talent is only outmatched by his kindness.

It takes a talented team to tell a story that gets selected by an Academy-qualifying festival like LA Shorts. So, while the film screens at the festival, we wanted to celebrate some of the people that made the film possible.

If for no other reason, people should watch Recipiphany to see Robyn Coffin’s amazing performance! She’s a regular on Chicago Fire and has played in countless other TV shows and films. Her performance is nuanced and compelling from moment to moment and delivers a heck of an emotional punch. And! She’s just an incredibly kind human being.
