*Pulwama Encounter: Two local Hizb militants surrender, one of them in injured condition*

Srinagar, Jan 30 (GNS): Two local militants of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit surrendered before government forces during an encounter in Lelhar area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district, officials said on Saturday.

A senior police officer told GNS that both the militants surrendered after being given an offer as per an SOP during “live-action”. Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from their possession, the officer said.

One among the surrendered militant had suffered an injury during the gunfight which started last night. He has been subsequently shifted to hospital for treatment, the officer said.
The surrender of two militants comes less than 24 hours after Inspector General of Police Vijay Kumar announced during a presser that the main focus of police would be the surrender of local militants.

The gunfight had ensued after a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Lelhar after specific inputs about the presence of the militants.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants had fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight. (GNS)

*South Kashmir: Encounter breaks out in Shopian*

Srinagar, December 25:(GNS) Encounter has started between militants and government forces in Kanigam Village of South Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army's 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.(GNS)

JeM commander among 02 Militants killed in Baramulla

Srinagar, December 24:(GNS) A Top commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad among two militants were killed in a gunfight in Wanigam Payeen area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Thrusday.

Official sources told GNS that two JeM militants were killed in an encounter.

As per the sources slain militants have been identified as Abrar alias Langoo from Pakistan and Amir Siraj from Sopore, however official confirmation is yet to come.

Amir had gone missing on 24th June this year and was said to be an ace footballer.

Earlier after 08 hours of standoff between militants and security forces in Wanigam area, the militants were tracked and subsequently engaged.(GNS)

Gr***de Attack In Sopore, SSB personnel minor injured

Srinagar, Dec 24(GNS): An Sashastra Seema Bal trooper was injured after militants hurled a gr***de in Watergam area of north Kashmir's Sopore on thursday evening.

Official sources told GNS said that suspected militants lobbed a gr***de towards SSB in Watergam. In which one SSB personnel recieved minor injuries and was shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile joint security forces launch a cordon and search operation to nab the attackers.(GNS)
