We here at Sad Times are trying to get it together. So we’re combo posting today about all three of this week’s artists for Sad Times 17!
started as a 4 man pop punk band in Columbia, Missouri in 2019. After releasing their debut EP, Bread Crumbs, in 2020, the pandemic hit, mostly shutting the band down except for a few outdoor shows here and there. The band eventually broke up, with Nick Villhardt, the songwriter, moving across the country. In late 2022, Nick rediscovered his passion for leaving whatever town he is in and started the pop punk project back up, this time as a solo band. In December of 2023, Nick released his first solo album, Feed the Pigeons, showcasing a new sound for the band. Now Carrier Pigeon looks to expand by playing shows across Oregon with plans to travel between states, so hold onto your socks, Carrier Pigeon’s almost OK music is on its way.

Wesley started out cutting their teeth playing open mics in their home state of Texas almost a decade ago. They have called Portland home since 2018 and have performed at a number of venues in the area. Their music consists of a guitar, dynamic vocals, and southern gothic flair. Songs feature everything from cryptic cryptids to delightful daffodils. Wesley is working on their album, Kaleidoscope, and also performs as a bassist and vocalist for the band Broom Riders.
