Salam/What-Up?!!!

Yeah, folks...it's that time of year, to support Gareth Bryant & as we embark upon our most meaningful Muslims Giving Back national-project: This single walk, called the Su***de walk, 18 miles worth of night time walking, helps to raise awareness about Su***de, and helps to raise monies to fund much-needed organizations & healthcare facilities, which promote Su***de-Aaw2areness & Su***de-Prevention.

This event, sponsored by the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, is such an amazing experience, that anyone who goes must be propelled, inspired, motivated to be that person who does all they can, in order to help prevent another person from committing Su***de. Here's the thing: What I want/need the most is the support of the Muslim-Community, to show a positive (Islamic) face, to display a positive (Muslim) presence at this event, to show people that the Muslims are just as invested in having Su***de end as any other demographic.

Ironically, this event is being hosted in Philadelphia, Pa, by far the most Mmuslim-influenced city within the United States. It would be such a great feat, for the Muslims particularly/especially who live in Philly to be a part of this event, to show people that we, as Muslims, care for all people, regardless to whether they're Muslims or Non-Muslims, that we care about the condition of the other, that we are invested in the betterment of the societies that we live.

Salam/What-Up?!!!

Allah says, in the Qur'an, "As a result of this, We have ordained upon the Children of Israel the following: 'Whomever kills someone, whom has neither killed anyone, nor has cause Corruption, within the Earth, it's just as though they've killed all of Humanity. Yet, whomever saves them, it's just as though they've saved all of Humanity.'.".(Noble Qur'an: Chpt.5, V.32)

The following are just some, of the many, startling facts about Su***de:

1. Su***de is attempted, every year, by1Million people within the United States, alone.

2. Nearly 40,000 Su***de attempts within the United States, alone, are actualized.

3. Women are 3-times more likely to attempt Su***de than Men.

As a Muslim, I take great interest in seeing Su***de come to an end. And, even if I never live to see it end, I owe it to Allah, the Creator/Lord of the Universe, to at least do my part, to help prevent at least one less person attempt Su***de. Every year, since 2011, I have made it my business to participate, as a walker, in the annual "Out Of The Darkness Overnight", a Su***de Walk, sponsored by the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, which helps to spread awareness, as well as raise monies, to help others from entering the road of no return, which is Su***de.
