February has special meaning to us here at Doing the Most & Then Some—

We get to celebrate the birthday of both show hosts Brittany & Stephanie AND it’s black history month!

As two black moms, it is our duty to raise children whose education includes the stories of their culture. Though this is a year round task, each February black stories get highlighted with more support from the mainstream and that boost is always nice.

This Friday’s episode of the podcast, we will be reviewing the movie One Night in Miami, a fictional recounting of the meet up of Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Jim Brown and Muhammad Ali. We will also be celebrating the birthday ladies.

Today we celebrate your life and legacy.

You spoke of a future where all people recognized each other for their gifts and contributions to society as a whole and not for their skin color.

Then after your death, we dedicated a day to you with the purpose of encouraging all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Though in times such as these the outlook is bleak and can seem insurmountable, we remind ourselves that we are the product of that progress. Our ability to own real estate, build businesses and have a voice in important conversations is from the groundwork you laid.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication to the fight for equity. You made the ultimate sacrifice and we will continue to do our part ensuring it was not made in vain.
