Green Bamboo Publishing Green Bamboo publishes children's books that directly support community-based projects. Questions?

Green Bamboo Publishing creates children’s books that support community-based initiatives. The stories Green Bamboo publishes are light and fun, but touch on the important subjects of friendship, sharing, overcoming difficulties, and loving one another despite our differences. Founder Jasmine Cabanaw chose to call the company “Green Bamboo” because this versatile grass enables hope, growth, and he

aling throughout the world. This venture started with a single children's book and evolved into an organization that serves community-based projects. We focus on early childhood education and recently partnered with the NWT SPCA and the Canadian government to translate one of our books into nine indigenous languages. Our work has been featured on Canadian national news stations, such as CTV News, and our books have received hundreds of five-star reviews on Amazon. All of our children’s books are tied to a mission to make the world a better place. We achieve this by emphasizing diversity within our books and among our authors, illustrators, and staff. We work with and support BIPOC, the LGBTQ community, minorities, and people who are often overlooked as the underdogs. We have a strong belief in empowering children and ensuring that children’s voices are heard. Send us a message on Facebook or email us at [email protected]

We're so happy to learn that "High Paw Super Sebastian" will be featured in Gentle Carousel's Reading with Horses program this summer!

The actual character from each week’s book will attend the program to help bring the story to life. Therapy horse Moonshadow is one of the stars of "High Paw Super Sebastian" and the book will be featured during Moonshadow's reading.

Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses annual summer literacy programs are free for children and adults.

To help support this program, we are donating 100% of book sale profits to Gentle Carousel. If you'd like to support, you can get a copy here: https://www.amazon.com/High-Super-Sebastian-Jasmine-Cabanaw/dp/1990087019

Summer is here! This book is a great addition to any watermelon-themed party. One reader even used it as a guest book for her watermelon-themed baby shower. Such a cute idea!

Watermelon Party is based on a real event that happened at Rocky Ridge Refuge. One July 4th, Janice put out a watermelon, and one by one the animals gathered around the watermelon, sharing in its juicy sweetness side by side, despite their differences in species and size. It is the perfect story ...

Watermelon Party is a story about world peace. Inspired by real animals who shared a watermelon together in peace and harmony. With all the conflicts happening in the world, I think it's a timely story for little ones and adults alike.

And the book makes a great gift! If you're looking for holiday presents for kids, consider gifting a copy. Proceeds are donated to Rocky Ridge Refuge and the book has over 200 positive reviews on Amazon.

Illustrator Liam Campbell is showing the world what people who have autism can accomplish.

Liam presented his book 99 Cents Short at a reading at Forestdale elementary school in Sandwich Massachusetts this June. He led a lesson on children’s book illustration for kids in kindergarten, first grade and second grade, facilitated through teacher Mrs. Julie Crosby.

His book is available on Amazon and online bookstores:

This past spring, the kids in Ms. Chase's second grade class became the very first students to try the Watermelon Party Project as a group!

The students were happily engaged with the project and absolutely delighted to learn about the animals from Rocky Ridge Refuge. One of the students was already familiar with the refuge ("I've seen them on the internet!" she exclaimed) and she was excited to share her love of the animals with her fellow classmates.

The kids were also excited to meet children's book author Jasmine June Cabanaw, since it was their first time meeting an author in person.

Thank you Morse Memorial School (Regional School Unit #3) for having us!

We have a to make:

We're inviting children and people from all over the world to join us in Costa Rica in March 2024 as we create a tribute to Rocky Ridge Refuge and form a living rainbow, representing world peace.

Full details are available here:
https://greenbamboopublishing.com/reading-relay-rainbow/

We also want to say a big congratulations to Charlie, who found the Watermelon Party golden ticket!

We reserved a spot for the first child who created a fourth option for the Watermelon Party Project. The prize for this achievement was a golden ticket to Costa Rica.... imagine our surprise when a real-life Charlie found the golden ticket!

There are three options for completing the Watermelon Party Project: a language you know, a language you want to learn, or a language you want to create. Charlie is blind, so he asked if he could do the project in braille, which isn't a language but a writing system. Of course we said yes!

Thank you, Charlie, for being on this journey with us. We're excited to meet you in person in Costa Rica!

A mother and daughter duo translated Watermelon Party into Russian! Their family loves books and reading, so they all find a lot of joy in sharing that experience. They had a fun time figuring out how to translate the eating sounds that the animals made.

"We were stumped by a few and it was funny to try and remember if we've ever even heard a capybara eat!"

Introducing Watermelon Party in ! The Lunar family tackled the Watermelon Party Project as a team of three generations. They had so much fun converting English to Tagalog, which is an Austronesian language spoken in Luzon and neighboring islands. It forms the basis of the standardized national language of the Philippines.

We just learned that Ricochet has made the journey to Rainbow Bridge.

Surf Dog Ricochet was one of the featured characters in our children's book High Paw, Super Sebastian.

Her guardian, Judy, says, "My heart is full of sadness and gratitude today. Sad because Ricochet is physically gone, and grateful for the long and triumph life she lived to the fullest… helping millions along the way. I’m also filled with gratitude for all of YOU as you were such a big part of her life."

Unfortunately, it cost Judy $3209 with all the tests to find out what was happening. We want to help fundraise, so we are raffling a copy of High Paw, Super Sebastian. Anyone who donates to Ricochet's fund will be entered into a raffle to win a copy of the book that features Ricochet.

You can donate to her memorial fund here: https://bit.ly/RicochetMemorialFund.

And let's keep Judy and her loved ones in our thoughts.

There is a little boy named Charlie in Scotland who is blind. He loves Watermelon Party so much that he is translating the story into braille.

He wants to show other children that the project is possible for everyone — his motto is, "If I can do the project, you can do it, too!"

Translating a book may seem like a big task, but that's the whole point: showing kids that they can accomplish incredible feats.
We love that Charlie wants to inspire and motivate other children to believe in themselves.

And it's so cool to see Watermelon Party in braille!

Thank you, Charlie, and congrats on becoming one of our new co-authors.

Janice Wolf has created this lovely painting of Cheesecake as a way to keep track of how many languages we achieve with the Watermelon Party Project... it's pretty fun spitting out watermelon seeds!

Every time someone translates the story into another language, Cheesecake will spit out another watermelon seed. Right now there are 10 languages, and 10 seeds in the painting.

We thought this would be a fun way to honor Cheesecake's memory. She passed away recently on March 19 and was the central figure in the book Watermelon Party. She helped many orphaned puppies and animals at Rocky Ridge Refuge and was a companion to a capybara named Cobbler.

We love you Auntie Cheesecake.

Sam was one of the very first readers of Watermelon Party when it came out — which was special because he lives all the way on the other side of the world, in Japan. He got the book in English when he was 5 years old, and he loved learning about all the animals from Rocky Ridge Refuge

He is 14 now, and is the first child to translate the book into his own language. His mother said she saw his confidence soar as he completed the project. ❤️

Congratulations to Sam for being one of the first co-authors among many. It is no small thing to translate a book. But with the right support, it is entirely achievable and even fun. Sam did a fantastic job!

Proud of our author Candace Amarante, PhD for making it into a recommended reading list of an educational organization in the UK called Explore learning.

She was especially thrilled to see her name right under Roald Dahl's.

Veronika Gruntovskaya is the illustrator of The Pheasant’s Tale and she did a great job of bringing Amarante’s colorful vision to life.

We love this feature of 99 Cents Short in the Cape Cod Times! The illustrator, Liam Campbell was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and communicated by drawing until he started talking at age 8. He teamed up with his father, Thomas Campbell, to create this book.

Liam Campbell, who has autism, has been drawing since age 3 and now has published a children's book.

Our Story

Green Bamboo publishes quality children’s books about animal rescue and animal tales. Jasmine June Cabanaw founded Green Bamboo in 2014 as a way to raise funds for animal charities. She also wanted to provide education to children about caring for animals in a way that children could understand. The stories Green Bamboo publishes are light and fun, but touch on the important subjects of friendship, sharing, overcoming challenges, and loving one another despite our differences. The first book published under Green Bamboo was "Watermelon Party" which is based on the animals at Rocky Ridge Refuge. Proceeds from book sales are donated to animal charities. Questions?
