10 Life Lessons We Can Learn From Animals

Growing up, animals were always a huge part of my life. I fell in love with EVERY four legged creature I saw. When I was four years old, my aunt surprised me with my first kitten, thus opening the door to a wide array of furry babies that would soon woof and meow their way into my heart. It wasn't until I was older that I realized the lessons that animals could truly teach us. They weren't just created to be the sunshine on our gloomiest days, but rather, they were created to be our scholars - teaching invaluable lessons in their own unique ways.
Here are some things that I have learned from these intelligent, fun-loving creatures!
1. Trust Wisely
I have always been a little skeptical when it came to trusting people, but deep down in, I have this natural tendency to believe that most people are good. While I've taken pride in my positive outlook, this outlook has also led me to being walked over.
My dogs have taught me that they are terrific judges of character. They sniff people out, and have this incredible sense of determining who is a good person, and who is not so good. Our canine pals can teach us to be cautious when approaching a relationship. They teach us that it is okay to be wary of opening up to anyone and everyone, and that we have to gain trust before putting substantial time and effort into a relationship.
As a woman who is quickly approaching her 30s, I am realizing how much I value getting to know people before I let them enter my life. And, a small group of friends is a lot better than playing with everyone at the park.
