An amazing story about a violin's survival amid an iconic disaster.

Hartley's bravery to play as the Titanic sunk, and being one of the last to jump ship, is chilling, just as the frigid watery depths he died in.

Yet his violin miraculously survived those waters, which normally would make the water-soluble glue dissolve. That it was found inside the leather suitcase explains its survival, yet not fully, as some water must have seeped into the case, which was not water-tight. Miraculous indeed, and this violin is a welcome reminder of Hartley's bravery to keep the passengers calm amid almost certain death. As 1,500 died that dreary night.
