The Cass High School Colonels extended their winning ways Friday night, overpowering Woodland in a commanding 55–9 victory on the road. The triumph lifts Cass to 6–1 overall and 3–0 in Region 7-AAAA, proving once again why the Colonels are one of the most dangerous programs in North Georgia.
First-Half Fireworks
Cass wasted no time making their presence felt. The Colonels opened with a 75-yard, 18-play drive, capped by a 9-yard touchdown run from Jeremy Barrett. Moments later, Kalil Charles powered in an 11-yard score after a 52-yard march. Before Woodland could recover, Charles broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run, electrifying the Cass sideline and silencing the home crowd.
Quarterback play was equally sharp. Deon McWhorter hit Chase Tatum for a 12-yard touchdown strike, while Noah Rogers later connected on a deep 55-yard touchdown pass to Raymond Woodard. Special teams added to the fireworks when Charles took a kickoff 90 yards to the house. By halftime, the game was effectively sealed.
Defensive Statement
The Colonels’ defense once again proved to be championship-caliber. Woodland’s only touchdown came late on a 68-yard run by Solomon James in the fourth quarter. Other than that flash of speed, Cass’s defense shut the Wildcats down, smothering drives before they could get rolling. Linebackers filled gaps with authority, defensive backs locked down passing lanes, and the front line collapsed the pocket all night long.
Special teams also played their part, forcing Woodland into mistakes, including a muffed kickoff return that set Cass up with prime field position.
Season Perspective
This wasn’t just another win—it was another glimpse into the balance and dominance of this Cass team. On offense, they’ve scored 272 points across seven games, averaging nearly 39 points per game. On defense, they’ve allowed only 115 total points, holding opponents to about 16 points per game. That margin shows why the Colonels are quickly becoming a powerhouse in the region.
Rivalry on the Horizon
The win now sets the stage for one of the most anticipated games of the year: Cass vs. Cartersville on October 3rd at 7:30 PM. The rivalry carries years of tradition, pride, and high stakes for the region title. Fans on both sides are already circling the date.
Faith. Family. Football.
Cass football is more than just a team; it’s a movement built on discipline, unity, and belief. Every player matters, every snap counts, and every victory is part of a bigger story. As Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” The Colonels are living that out week after week, sharpening one another for excellence.
