In “The Next Karate Kid” ...Mr. Miyagi is willing to take responsibility for Julie Pierce. In doing so he discovers that Julie knows “Tiger Position”, a Miyagi-Do move. This pleases Miyagi in that Julie turned out to be not only the granddaughter, but student of Miyagi's Army buddy, Lt. Jack Pierce, who was also the first person he trained in Miyagi-Do karate and, in turn, taught Julie.

The Next Karate Kid arrived in 1994, roughly five years after its predecessor, which was the longest gap between movies in the franchise. 'Though the late Pat Morita is was the only actor to return from the previous films, the producers of the killer YouTube series Cobra Kai have confirmed that all three sequels to the original Karate Kid are, in fact, canon, even going so far as to say that they believe Julie, aka The Next Karate Kid, likely met Daniel at Mr. Miyagi's funeral.

He has worked as a voice actor, producer, film director, and screenwriter in movie and television series in various Canadian and American productions. He is best known for playing villains and "tough guy" heroes, though he has also portrayed sympathetic characters.

Michael Ironside portrayed Colonel Dugan in The Next Karate Kid.

Hilary Swank was 20 when she made The Next Karate Kid, but thanks to some clothing decisions from the wardrobe department (dungarees, baggy T-shirts, chunky trainers) and an unfeasibly straight fringe, she just about passes for an average 90s teenager – albeit one of the sulkiest teenagers in all cinema.
