Today I want to honor Commissioner Sharon Barnes Sutton for making Herstory in our county! You have endured through so much and I want to personally thank you for seeing the best in me and trusting me with your vision for the DeKalb Youth Leadership Academy. Your strength is amazing and you have been an inspiration to so many! I am sure that I haven't said it enough over the past 8 years but thank you! Without your commitment to our youth and unwavering hard work, the Academy would be a mere dream. You saw it all the way through and because of your dedication year after year, it has thrived and grown into what I know is the BEST youth program in our state. You have directly touched the lives of hundreds of people and indirectly touch the lives of hundreds more. On behalf of the current and past participants of the Youth Leadership Academy, our parents, staff, community, and our partners, THANK YOU!!!! The Best Is Yet To Come! As you transition to your new roles in our community, I know that you will continue to serve, blaze trails, and rise! You are a wonderful person and I am so grateful that God saw fit for our paths to cross!
