That came from Italian idea of ‘peasant cooking’ (cucina povera) of the farming region. Tuscan kitchen doesn’t use complicated seasoning, heavy sauces or complicated recipes. Instead food is made using fresh, high quality ingredients to bring natural rustic flavors.
Meals not to miss here: Schiacciata bread with fresh olive oil, Antipasti Toscani- cutting board with a mix of appetizers, Bistecca alla Fiorentina – a T-bone steak, Pecorino sheep mil cheese, rustic soups, Pappa al pomodoro – tomato and bread stew, Cacciucco – fish stew.
And don’t forget gelato – best ice cream in Italy.
Tuscany truly is a wine region. Montelpuciano, Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino. Red wines dominates here, but you should also try white wines such as Vernaccia or very light Vermentino.
