Another little behind-the-scenes interview with Cholpon Tabyldieva Bond, talking a little bit about her home country of Kyrgyzstan and the beautiful costume that she is wearing. The photos from this shoot will be displayed at The Henry Jones Art Hotel from February 3 until March 7, along with many others from participant of the podcast.
All this made possible with the support of City of Hobart
More behind-the-scenes video from our 177 Nations of Tasmania Photography and Storytelling Project, this time with Cedrick and hearing a little bit about his experience and the experience of his family of coming to Tasmania as a humanitarian entrant originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Some of this was just organic conversation through the photo shoot, as well as a short interview I did afterwards.
Another great example of the wonderful personal stories we're collecting together for our display at the Henry Jones Art Hotel from February 4 to March 7. Come and check it out !

Photo session with Denisse (Ecuador)
This is another video from the photo sessions that we held in early December. We asked people if they could wear some clothing from their birth country or bring an object which was significant to them. In this session we learn a little bit about Denisse, who is a marine scientist from Ecuador, and the story behind the object she brought with her.
We will be holding more of these photo sessions in the Packing Room Gallery at the The Henry Jones Art Hotel between February 3 and March 7, where photos and text about each person will be hung up. There will QR codes that visitors can use to listen to the podcast episodes which tell each person's story in greater detail.

This is some behind the scenes footage of a portrait photo session that we did with Loni.
During the sessions, participants talk a bit about themselves and their culture, and in this video Loni talks a little about the significance of the traditional Samoan dress she is wearing.
I hope that this gives other participants a good feel for how our photo sessions will work - but I promise we won't make everyone dance ! But if want to, I will have some playlists at the ready :-).
Come and see us at The Henry Jones Art Hotel between February 3 and March 7, as we conduct more sessions and fill the gallery up with lots more amazing images.

From February 3 until March 7, photographer Andrew Wilson and myself will be at the Henry Jones Art Hotel in Hobart, conducting portrait sessions with participants from the 177 Nations of Tasmania podcast. The portraits from these sessions will make up an ongoing display in the Henry Jones gallery during the same period.
In this video I filmed a little of the behind the scenes with a group of 5 participants as a bit of a trial run. I also asked Aidan TKay ( Uganda/Rwanda), Denisse (Ecuador), Cholpon Tabyldieva Bond (Kyrgyzstan), Cedrick ( Democratic Republic of Congo) and Loni (Samoa) about their experiences of being photographed and representing a bit of their heritage. We hope this gives people a bit of an idea of what to expect when they come in to see us at the The Henry Jones Art Hotel in February/March, and that there's nothing really to be nervous about :-).
