This is one of the reasons why the military is such a great path into the industrial world.

In this episode of Manufacturing Happy Hour, Marty Groover, operational technology expert, partner at C5MI and the author of Speed of Advance, talks about his fascinating career and how the transition into manufacturing was that much smoother because of his experiences in the US Navy.

🎧 Weekend listening: https://manufacturinghappyhour.com/fb/56

How do we close the gender gap in manufacturing? It's an important conversation. It can be an uncomfortable conversation. So let's get comfortable getting uncomfortable. There's a lot of listening and discussion that needs to happen here.

Meaghan Ziemba - Marketing Coordinator, Copywriter, and host of the Mavens of Manufacturing podcast - is open on the topic with us in this interview. Mavens of Manufacturing regularly features women that are driving the industry forward, so Meaghan is no stranger to this conversation.

Meaghan believes a key barrier is a lack of education and awareness around manufacturing. Instead of hoping people will wander into the field, we should introduce manufacturing to people at a young age.
..but that's all just a quick taste! Don’t miss Episode 56 of Manufacturing Happy Hour to hear more. Link up top!

Anastasia Kraft loved her engineering career in project management but hated the bulky, made-for-men work boots she had to wear on job sites. Realizing that she wasn’t alone in this feeling, she created a company that would solve this problem for her and all other women in the industry…

Ana is the Co-Founder & CEO of Xena Workwear, a Milwaukee-based industrial apparel company that’s leveling the playing field for women in engineering, manufacturing, and construction thanks to their stylish steel-toe shoes. She believes that what you wear impacts your confidence at work, but more importantly, she’s on a mission to make STEM-related fields more accessible to women.

In this episode, Ana shares her entrepreneurial journey of starting Xena Workwear, why female role models in industry are critical for getting girls interested in STEM, and how male allies can take an active role in supporting women in these industries. There are plenty of startup stories, travel tales, and Wisconsin beers to go along with these topics, so grab a cold one and join us for the conversation.
