This video plainly shows how aggressively Afghan refugees are being treated by the Immigration Officers in each city of Indonesia. Such misbehaviors have not only happened in the recent peaceful demonstrations, yet it has been an ongoing act of disrespect and disdain since the first time these refugees have sought asylum in any immigration office around Indonesia. They have been mistreated and harassed for almost a decade. But the only difference we see today is that it's being done proudly even in front of the cameras. And it's really surprising that not even one person question such misbehaviors upon Afghan refugees. Everybody has turned a blind eye on such aggressive acts against innocent refugees. That doesn't seem to be a good sign. Maybe there's no humanity left to seek justice for forgotten Afghan refugees in this limbo.

Afghan-Hazara refugees have been suffering from uncertainty and lengthy resettlement process through UNHCR Indonesia. This long resettlement process have increased stress and mental pressures among Afghan refugees whose families are living under the persecution of Taliban in Afghanistan. These refugees are exhausted and asks for their freedom. They deserve to be resettled in a secure country where they can have their freedom and their basic human rights.

Today, August 30th, Afghan-Hazara refugees in Kupang city conducted another peaceful demonstrations in front of NTT government office to raise their voice and call for an urgent attention and consideration regarding their 10 years of suffering in uncertainty. They have families left behind in Afghanistan where is undergoing an insecure and unstable condition because of their minor ethnicity, Hazara. They sought asylum through @unhcrindonesia so they can get resettled in a safe country and support their families. However, it has been over a decade without any clarity on their future. They also ask the global Humanitarian Organizations to prevent the human crisis refugees are about to face in Indonesia as 16 refugees have already committed suicide and several others have lost their lives due to insufficient care and attention from UNHCR and IOM Indonesia.

Yesterday, August 23th, some local gangs tried to violate Afghan-Hazara refugees' peaceful demonstration in Batam City. As it's clear in the video one of the gangs attacked on one of the refugees and bit him in the head. Another refugee was witnessed bleeding in the head. The refugees then went to make a complaint to the police, however they did not receive a proper respond. We have to mention that this is not the first time this group disturb Afghan-Hazara refugees in this city.

Today, Afghan-Hazara refugees in Makassar once again raised their voice against the injustice and human rights violation in front of UNHCR office.
The call for justice is to be raised until effective measures are taken by @unhcrindonesia and @iomindonesia to emd refugees suffering in this limbo.

A message from an Afghan-Hazara refugee to his fellow refugees all across Indonesia.

I am a human being like other human beings in the world who wish to live according to their wishes and want to be useful in society and serve humanity. I have never committed a crime in this world and I have never broken any law, but I have been imprisoned in this limbo for a decade. All my basic rights have been taken from me. I am not allowed to live as a normal human being.
My life was wasted in immigration detention centers worse than any prison in the world. A felon or an outlaw always receives a specific sentence and a certain sentence period, after which he is released and his criminal record is cleared. But after decades of literally rotting in refugee camps, the only specific sentence refugees receive is "be patient and wait. Period." And this is supposed to heal all their mental illnesses as well as everything they have lost.
Then a miracle happened and refugees were released from refugee camps to local communities. But is that it? Definitely not! With all sorts of restrictions and everyday-a-law regulations, these home prisons are nothing less than refugee camps with us as prisoners still. But then again, after 10 long and interminable years of enduring this hardship and putting up with this nonsense, what's even worse and impossible is the utter uncertainty of when exactly we're going to be taken out of this limbo and live just like a human being and nothing more.
For every person who leaves here, hundreds more are drawn to their deaths. Only God knows how many talented and skilled people have lost their lives in their rooms, roads, hospitals, accidents, etc., some by accident and some intentionally to end their miserable life and this cruelty. And I'm not even talking about those poor refugees who are permanently committed to mental hospitals for good.
But who are we? All of us, every single person that you see here in our peaceful demonstration today, is either a father, or a brother, or a son who has been separated from his family and obviously h
Today while Afghan refugees in Batam City were holding peaceful demonstrations along side their fellow refugees in other cities, the local gangs carried on with their ongoing disturbance. One of the gangs parked his car 9n the middle of the street and started provoking other locals against Afghan refugees. Though the local authorities were present at the scene, they took no action to stop the gangs' interference.

We hope no one lose their home like us. Because it is the most tragic and painful thing that can happen to anyone. We have no wish but to live in peace and love others, though, instead of living we should beg for safety and look for a place to call home.

Today July 12, 2022, the peaceful demonstrations of Afghan-Hazara refugees goy into its tenth round of the new phase. Due to long Resettlement process of UNHCR Indonesia, these refugees have been marching several kilometers and raising their voice through peaceful demonstrations for around a year, yet none of the Global Human Rights Organizations gave a convincing response, neither did the resettlement countries.

Local gangs continue to interrupt Afghan-Hazara refugees demonstration in Batam City. Over the past weeks they've assaulted Hazara refugees in public and even provoked other locals to stand against Hazara refugees. Last week they came to the streets and called Hazara refugees as "TERRORISTS".
Hazara refugees in Batam are concerned about such violent behaviors and are fearing of any inhumane disaster happening in the future.

Today, once again we witnessed violent behavior of Indonesian police against Afghan-Hazara refugees who were conducting peaceful demonstration in front of UNHCR office in Medan city.
We Afghan-Hazara refugees in Indonesia have been stuck more then 10 years. Many refugees lost their lives and health. Refugees don't have Andy basic rights here.
Where is humanity?
where is justice?
We are human beings too.
UNHCR Indonesia and IOM Indonesia and the government of Indonesia are responsible for all these human violations. We all request from all Indonesia people to stand with Hazara refugees in Indonesia

Refugees have been violated and assaulted many times over the past decade. And Hasan Reza is not the first refugee who faced such inhumane treatment, nor will he be the last one. This act of violence against refugees should be stopped in Indonesia. Afghan-Hazara refugees already have stress and mental pressures of the long-term resettlement process and cannot bear further suffering on top of their existing issues. We urge local authorities to find a durable solution to this problem and prevent further humiliation against refugees.

Seeking asylum is not a crime, yet the people stranded in Indonesia are treated like criminal and held in detention centers. The few that are free are not allowed to have peaceful protest in front of the UN offices.

Today, June 20 is the World Refugee Day. It honors the strength and encourage of refugee. It honors refugees who managed to escape death in war and conflicts. We, the Afghan refugees escaped war a decade ago. Our escaped has never been honored. It rather been criminalized. We have been living like a criminal prisoners and we have been treated like criminal prisoners in past one decade of living in Indonesia.
June 20 is also dedicated to spread awareness about refugees’ causes. Many may not know about plight of refugees in Indonesia. It is perfect opportunity for us to tell our stories.
You may wonder what could have caused for these refugees stranded for nearly a decade in Indonesia. In a country that is considered as a transit country, as temporary protection. In fact, it also bewilders us why we are abandoned in these country without any future and deprived of our basic human rights for such a long time. The relevant organizations like UNHCR and IOM as well as Indonesian government do not respond to this unanswered question. Upon many meeting, we have had with the relevant authorities, sadly, they have always eluded themselves from answering. Even when they answered, their answer has not been satisfying.
Almost all of the Afghan refugees in Indonesia are from the Hazara ethnic minority. The world might know about the perilous lives of Hazara minority group in Afghanistan and the systematic genocide against them from the widespread news in the media.
UNCHR is considered as the biggest refugee rights defenders and primarily provide protection for the vulnerable. A simple question arise why have 17 Afghan refugees committed suicide in the past few years under UNHCR supervision?
Today is also dedicated to encourage support for refugees. I would like draw your attention to the current debilitating situation of Afghan refugees in Indonesia. We, Afghan refugees, conduct a peaceful protest as usual in Tanjung Pinang city of Indonesia. It has been for eight months tha
