My parents dance as they’re serenaded by my husband tonight on their 45th Anniversary. We pushed all the tables to the walls and made us a cute little dance floor. I’m exhausted but my heart is full. 💒💜😍

Today is not just #ValentinesDay, it’s also #HOH23 aka Headache on the Hill!! Thank you so much to the whole team at Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy for always giving us advocates the tools we need to advocate for millions of Americans who live with migraine and headache disorders. I’m excited to chronicle today as I speak with the offices for members of Congress on the behalf of us all, especially our kids with migraine. 💜❤️ #migraine #chronicmigraine #hemiplegicmigraine #vestibularmigraine #headache #migraineaura #migrainewithaura #headacheonthehill
Living with chronic pain, no matter what disease or condition I have makes life hard. I probably frown more than I smile and when I smile it’s definitely achy. But 2022 has taught me that I’m so much stronger than I believe myself to be. #chronicpain #fibromyalgia #crps #migraine #chronicmigraine #hemiplegicmigraine #vestibularmigraine #brainstemaura
2022 was wild. In January I was still going through a really scary and eye opening depression that has changed my life. I experienced so much grief and so much loss in a short span of time that I am forever changed. Because of this experience I began to create my Symptom and Mental Health Journal that is coming very, VERY soon! I am very excited about it. January also meant my daughter moved to Houston to finish her degree and I’m excited for her! She graduates Spring 2023!! During the summer we moved to the Dallas area, crazy! (Lots of exclamations in this post…lots happened). Then, in May Marissa graduated with her Associates in San Antonio. June was another impactful Migraine & Headache Awareness Month with @chronicmigraineawareness . THEN…in later in the year I began collaborating with both @neurahealth and @nerivio, two companies that have given me relief living with chronic migraine. Something totally unexpected happened in October…I won Creative Contributor at the Social Health Awards by @socialhealthnetwork @healthunion!!! I’ve been nominated for years but 2022 saw this dream realized. Thank you!!! I was able to accept my award in Philadelphia in November with Stephen. We had a wonderful time!! December was fun, we spent time with Marissa in Houston where Noah, Stephen, and I got to escape the crazy cold weather of Christmas weekend!! Tonight we’re home, staying in. Unfortunately, Marissa and Cameron got Covid so we’re staying home in solidarity. 2022 was hard with a lot of change, a lot of growth, and a lot of great moments…can’t forget those. I know 2023 won’t be perfect, there will be pain, depression, anxiety, and all the hard stuff. BUT, despite all of that we have some exciting events coming to our family in 23’ that’s I’m really looking forward to. I know I’m in a much, much better place today than I was on the last day of 2021. I am grateful that my smile still stands, no matter how achy. Happy New Year everyone!! …and g

Posted this on my TikTok a week ago and meant to post here…before I was distracted by who knows what. Watching @queereye Season Six and this hair chair confessional had me nodding my head…slowly cause #migraine…because I’m in full blown burn out mode. Y’all know that, but I just had to share this because I know all you advocates understand. Thank you @jvn and the boys for always knowing how to word vomit my feelings!!!! @karamo @bobby @tanfrance @antoni #queereye #burnout #selfcare #talktherapy
It’s been a rough couple months. I unexpectedly moved back to Texas by myself when my grandmother passed away in early July. I wasn’t supposed to move until mid-August. I went to Texas while she was still alive and got to spend a week with her as her body shut down. Hardest week of my life. My husband and kids drove from NC to TX when she died and stayed a few days before having to go back for school (summer college classes). Then without me (the organized one) they packed up our life and made the drive again but this time with a big ole’ Uhaul. The first trip made the second trip very difficult financially, but there’s no way I would have been able to get through the funeral and those few days after my grandmother passed without them, plus they needed their own closure. When they got here our housing fell through and we had to scramble to find a storage in Waco. Everyone was full. It was so close to school starting. Waco is home to Baylor so it’s been crazy finding housing. Then, Stephen’s school transfer through the VA was put on a freeze, which means his school funding fell through. Luckily the school is working with us so he didn’t get dropped, but it’s still stressful…the unknown. Hopefully that will be fixed this week or next, still battling that one. We were also in a minor car accident that caused some back pain in Stephen and Cameron. A guy hit us from behind while we were at a stop light a few weeks ago. So right now we’re in a rental. We were finally able to move into a new place last week…DURING the first week of college classes for Marissa, Noah, and Stephen. 🤦🏻♀️ it’s been rough!! My body has been cooperating so I feel so lucky for that. There’s so much more that made this move so difficult and my mental health has been the worst part of it. I’ve been struggling and still am. I was finally able to set up a small corner in this little house were in to run Achy Smile Shop…and I mean small!! But I’m just happy
