For anyone thinking about filming your hunts, ive been doing it for 3 years and heres my take. It adds whole other element of challenge, its hard enough to kill these big bucks, getting it on camera is a whole other animal and its not for everyone.
Most people get too excited and dont get the footage or get tired of lugging all the gear in. Another challenge is being prepared to film everytime you step in the woods, making sure batteries are charged and all equipment is ready and with you. Its very easy, for someone that isnt really passionate about filming, for your favorite hobby to be turned into work.
Its not easy, its not cheap, and its very very, time consuming. But i love it, ill never enter the woods without my camera again. Its not about the kill or getting the biggest bucks, for me, its about showing the almosts, the hunts that didnt produce a kill. Because without the footage its just a big fish story.
But the biggest positive for me is being able to get my kids hunts camera. Instilling a passion in them, that my dad instilled in me and being able to watch it over and over.
Now for anyone looking for tips to get on big bucks, ive been hunting for over 20 years, and it is 100% about LOCATION! When you get lucky enough to hunt a spot that holds big bucks, you stay out of it as much as possible, the biggest bucks are hanging out in places where they never get busted out by humans.
