On Wednesday, March 19, just after 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station conducted a parole compliance check on James Butler at a hotel room he was living in located in the 600 block of Sycamore Avenue. Butler was in violation of the terms of his parole. State Parole was notified.
During the compliance check, deputies found Butler was in possession of nearly 50 grams of methamphetamine. 
They also found what appeared to be the makings of a Butane Honey Oil lab (BHO) inside the hotel room. The Sheriff’s Ma*****na Enforcement Team (MET) and County Hazmat responded and took over the scene.
Butler was arrested for selling a controlled substance and violating parole.
Butler’s wife, Kelly Butler was also arrested. Both James and Kelly Butler are facing child endangerment charges after deputies learned their child was also living in the hotel room.
San Diego County’s Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Department was contacted. After a preliminary investigation, CFWB placed the child with other family members.

Deputies arrest two adults.

   On Thursday, March 13, around 1:00 p.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station’s Community Policing and Problem-Solving Unit (COPPS) served a narcotics search warrant at a home in the 800 block of Wandering Road in Vista.

During the search of the home, deputies found the following items:
• a registered G***k handgun
• ammunition
• xanax pills
• psilocybin mushrooms
• about 12.99 grams of methamphetamine
• about 22.26 grams of co***ne

All these items were seized by deputies. Ruben Novellan Feliciano (DOB 10/01/2001) and Evelyn Gomez Herrera (DOB 05/17/2001) were arrested on the following charges:
• 273A(B) PC- child endangerment
• 11378 HS- sale of a controlled substance
• 11351 HS -sales of a narcotic controlled substance
• 11370.1(A) PC- possession of firearm with a controlled substance
Herrera is also facing a charge of 29800(A)(1) PC- addict in possession of a firearm.
While serving the warrant, deputies found children living in the home. San Diego County’s Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Department was contacted. After a preliminary investigation, CFWB placed the children with other family members.

On Saturday, March 8, around 12:00 p.m., deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station served a search warrant at a home located in the 100 block of Camino Corto in Vista. 

 During the search of the home, deputies found the following items:
about 2.4 pounds of counterfeit Oxycodone (M30) pills that contain fentanyl
7 ounces of he**in
5 ounces of methamphetamine
unserialized handgun (Ghost gun)
 
All these items were seized by deputies. So far, no arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

North County: At around 12:30am Escondido police was in pursuit of a Hyundai sonata traveling WB on SR-78. The vehicle reached speeds of 120 Mph. The vehicle then continued NB at speeds of 100+ MPH. The vehicle then exited on harbor attempted to enter Camp Pendleton but crashed into the barrier deployed by military police. It is unknown what the suspect was wanted for at this time.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred on the evening of February 17, 2025, in the 20200 block of Rancho Villa Rd. At approximately 8:58 p.m., deputies from the Ramona Substation responded to a radio call regarding an assault with a deadly weapon at a residence in the area.

Upon arrival, deputies found 49-year-old Rebecca Marodi inside her home with multiple stab wounds. Life-saving measures were administered by the deputies until Cal Fire paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts, Marodi succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Homicide Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Homicide detectives are actively working to contact persons of interest, identify a suspect, and locate and apprehend them as quickly as possible. Investigators suspect that the victim knew the perpetrator and are treating this case as a potential domestic violence incident. Currently, the motivation and circumstances surrounding the homicide remain unclear, and detectives are diligently gathering more information to establish the facts of the case.

At around 8:55am reports of a Vegetation fire came out in the area posted above.
Firefighters arrived and located a fire at around 2 acres with moderate spread & structures threatened.
Air Ops were called in to assist with water drops.
2 nearby schools were evacuated.
as of now the fire is contained at around 4 acres

DETAILS:

At around 4 PM, 911 received multiple reports of a vegetation fire in the westbound lanes of SR78 near Mar Vista.
Firefighters quickly arrived, and began an aggressive attack on the fire
The fire was knocked down within 21 minutes.
The nearby hotel was placed on a shelter in place. But has since been rereleased.
fire investigators are on scene investigating the cause of the fire the fire.
a witness said the fire may have been lit by a vehicle having mechanical problems but that is not confirmed.
