Who Rescued Whom? Canine Rescue Tales

Heartwarming stories of man, (and woman’s) best friend. John and Diane have been together 13 years. (They are still working on that as well, so stay tuned.)

It’s a podcast that will tell the tales of both the humans and canines that found each other, and whose lives were changed, for the better, forever. They owned and operated a Bed and Breakfast in Nebraska for five years, where they found Missy, a two-year old rough sable Collie. Upon first glance, after balking at the idea (because of her full coat), Missy became a daddy’s girl, and she was rescue

d; she lived with them until the approximate age of 13. They have since rescued Stormy, Jake, Cody, (all seniors at the time of rescue) and now, Rex. They now reside in Colorado where Rex, a tri-colored six-year old Collie keeps them busy and happy. Although partial to the Collie breed, all dogs have a place in their hearts. The idea for this podcast was born in the early days of the pandemic, 2020. With Colorado’s Stay at Home order, they had the idea to retrieve some 10 year old notes that they had taken, in the hopes of writing a children’s book someday about their first Collie Missy. After retrieving the notes, and being the avid podcast listeners they are, they wondered if there was a podcast of rescue stories. Finding none, they enrolled in an online podcasting school. They came up with the name from a book Diane had recently been reading, but changed the title slightly. Thus, Who Rescued Whom?, Canine Rescue Tales, was born. For several months, and with the help and support of many friends and family, they launch these stories that they hope you’ll love.

Summary - Our guest on the newest episode is Jeff, from eastern Nebraska. Jeff is a retired Air Force Officer and current government contractor. His story will not only encourage those with sadness and loss in their life to rescue a dog, but we hope it inspires people to seek out the help that they need. Sadness brought on by loss, pain, or any other circumstance, can lead to isolation. In Jeff’s case, even though his wife, Tammy, of many years, has been a life partner and there to help, it wasn’t until he found his rescue dog Aimee, that he knew it was what he needed to ease his troubles and make life more complete.

The photo is of our Missy girl! We rescued her in Nebraska in 2006. She was the inspiration behind the podcast. Although she left us in 2016, she will always have a huge place in our hearts! She was a gem, a Daddy's girl, a beautiful soul.

Summary ~ Our guests are Wayne and Caroline who currently reside in South Carolina. We met them while vacationing in 2018. We became fast friends for many reasons, but we'd say we are actually more like kindred spirits in that they are dog rescue people like us, we connected immediately. All their lives they’ve had a passion for animals. Wayne and Caroline have rescued 11 dogs over the years. Each one, having their own story of how they were saved by the opening of their home, and their gracious and loving hearts. We will hear about four of their rescues today, Buster, Abby Grace, Hope and Doc. Friends tell them they are hopeless adopters. No one is surprised when a new little canine arrives in their lives.
