Nai is worrying about the increase of violence against in last days
Information reached to Nai Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan indicates that Rohullah Sangar local journalist for Tolo News has detained on 18 December during preparation of report in Parwan province. Based on the information Mr. Sangar has detained by security forces at the Haj & Awqaf administration of this province. However, local sources confirm his detention, but the reason of detention is not clear yet.
In the last days Afghan media community were witnessing the increase of unprincipled behaviors against journalists in various parts of the country, and it has created serious concerns among journalism community in Afghanistan.
Nai is concerning about current situation against journalists and media workers and asks the situation return to normal. Nai requests the release of Rohullah Sangar and emphasize on independent journalism activities and no intervention on the activities of open media in Afghanistan. On the other hand, it is expected that the Media Violation Commission will use its legal powers and prevent the detention of journalists.
It is worth mentioning that recently we are witnessing the detentions and violent behaviors against journalists including detention of Abdul Rahim Mohammadi journalist for Tamadon TV in Qandahar province, detention of Zamir Zuhair journalist in Parwan province and also the Nasim Radio chief editor's Sultan Ali Jawadi trialed in Dikundi province, and murder of Husna Sadaat former journalist of Khorshid TV in Kabul. Nai request clarity about the recent cases, so that journalists, media outlets and media support organizations being in the pictures of these events.
