Timing is everything.

The Chinese hacking of US networks is “constant and likely larger in scale than previously understood.”

Given the scale of Chinese cyber attacks, reports by the FBI realized that manipulation and propaganda into US politics, caused major pressure for the American Congress to thwart disinformation campaigns and data collection .

Just as Apple’s adoption of RCS had seemed to signal a return to text messaging versus the growth of WhatsApp.

Along comes a surprising new hurdle to stop Database security and network access in its tracks.

While messaging Android to Android or iPhone to iPhone is secure, messaging from one to the other is not.

Now the FBI and CISA: (US cyber defense agency), are warning Americans to use responsibly encrypted messaging and phone calls where they can.

Fully encrypted comms is the best defense against this compromise, and Americans are being urged to use that wherever possible.

The responsibility doesn’t just fall on America’s population; Service providers are called to bear the brunt of the protection.

Attributed to Salt Typhoon; a group associated with China’s Ministry of Public Security, has generated heightened concern as to the vulnerabilities within critical US communication networks. Thus cyber attacks on vulnerable networks will continue in various types Spoofing, man in the middle attack, DDOS & Apps, etc.

The reality is different. Without fully end-to-end encrypted messaging and calls, there has always been a potential for singling out American who’ve been compromised through content to intercepted.

According to a senior FBI official, “within the investigative activity, especially one this significant and enormity, the facts will evolve over time… The continued investigation into the PRC targeting commercial telecom infrastructure has revealed a broad and significant cyber espionage campaign.”

This campaign, is warned, “identified that PRC affiliated cyber actors have compromised networks of multiple telecom companies.

That’s the entire reason the likes of Apple, Google and Meta show concern for its users of the dangers that even they can’t see, confirming that “ FBI began investigating this activity in late spring and early summer of this year.”

Warning that citizens should be careful of “using a cell phone that automatically receives timely operating system updates, and they should take responsible use of “Managed encryption” and phishing resistant MFA for email, social media and collaboration tool accounts.”

Amazon-owned Ring will stop allowing police departments to request doorbell camera footage from users.

In a post, Ring said it will sunset the "Request for Assistance" tool, which allows police departments and other public safety agencies to request and receive video captured by the doorbell cameras through Ring's Neighbors app.

The company did not provide a reason for the change, which will be effective starting this week.

The update is the latest restriction Ring has made to police departments on the Neighbors app following concerns by privacy watchdogs about the Amazon’s relationship with police departments across the country.

The proliferation of these relationships – and users' ability to report what they see as suspicious behavior - can change neighborhoods into a place of constant surveillance and lead to more instances of racial profiling.

Increase in transparency, Ring changed its policy in 2021 to make police requests publicly visible through its Neighbors app.

Previously, law enforcement agencies were able to send Ring an active investigation request for video footage via private emails.

" Ring will altogether be out of the business of platforming casual and warrantless police requests for footage to its users”.

Matthew Guariglia, a senior policy analyst at the digital rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation, said in a statement:

“Law enforcement agencies can still access videos using a search warrant. Ring also maintains the right to share footage without user consent in limited circumstances”.

US Navy helicopters fire at Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The United States (US) military said Sunday that its forces opened fire on Houthi rebels after they attacked a cargo ship in the Red Sea, killing several of the pirates in an escalation of the maritime conflict linked to the war in Gaza.

Sunday action details hinted their were Four small boats then attacked the same cargo ship and pirates tried to board the vessel, with small arms early Sunday the US Navy spokesperson said.

“We’re going to act in self-defence going forward,” a White House official recounting to the public about the naval operations.

The US Central Command said the crew of the USS Gravely destroyer first shot down two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired at the Singapore-flagged Maersk Hangzhou late Saturday, after the vessel reported getting hit by a missile earlier that evening as it sailed through the Southern Red Sea.

USS Gravely and helicopters from the USS Dwight D Eisenhower aircraft carrier responded to the Maersk Hangzhou’s distress call. The Us naval forces issued verbal warnings to the attackers, who responded by firing on the helicopters.

“The US Navy helicopters returned fire in self-defence,” sinking three of the four boats and killing the people on board while the fourth boat fled the area, the US Central Command said.

No harm to any US personnel or equipment, Nor were there casualties aboard the cargo ship, though some was suspected may have been injury in that Missile attack the day before.
