Scheherazade Quiroga is an incredible multi-hyphenate Venezuelan artist 🇻🇪. She is a performer, writer, director, producer, and educator. Some select credits in the U.S and Venezuela include Fiddler on the Roof, The Producers, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Laramie Project, Sweeney Todd, and the all Spanish version of In The Heights directed by Luis Salgado. Schehe was nominated for a Helen Hayes Award and BroadwayWorld Award for her role as Daniela in In The Heights. As an educator she specializes in Voice and Song Interpretation, Scene Work, Script Analysis, Monologues, On-Camera, and career coaching. Schehe teaches her students how to be unique artists by teaching them her philosophy " No one can be you better than you"

Luis Salgado is a Puerto Rican🇵🇷 performer, director, choreographer, producer, and educator. Since his Off-Broadway debut in 2003, he has been unstoppable onstage and on film. As a performer, he has been in acclaimed shows such as Rocky, On Your Feet, Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Mambo Kings, and In the Heights. He has assisted in choreography in films such as American Gangster, Enchanted, and Step up 2. Luis has directed/choreographed many shows in the U.S and Abroad. Luis Salgado has worked as director and choreographer in many shows in the U.S and abroad. In 2011 he founded Salgado Productions, a production company committed to developing new works and creating "Art with a Purpose". Select projects by Salgado Productions include Matilda, Ragtime, Aida, and the all Spanish version of In The Heights.⁠ With the mission of giving back to the community and inspiring artists to dare to go beyond, Luis founded Revolución Latina, an organization that seeks to empower the Hispanic community through educational programming and partnerships. In our conversation, Luis talked about:

The Sol Project is a national theater initiative founded in 2016. The Sol Project is dedicated to produce the work and raise the visibility of Latinx Playwrights in the American Theater. Through their model, they help pair Latinx playwrights at various stages of their careers, with acclaimed theater companies. Some of the playwrights The Sol Project has supported are Hilary Bettis, Martín Zimmerman, Luis Alfaro, Charise Castro Smith, and Noah Diaz – with three New York productions and two national productions.

Scheherazade Quiroga is a performer, director, producer, writer, and audition coach from Venezuela 🇻🇪 !! Schehe is an artist that approaches her work full of joy and passion. She moved to the U.S to study for a Master’s in Television at Boston University and she later moved to NYC to pursue her Master’s of Music in Vocal Performance. Some select credits in the U.S and Venezuela include Fiddler on the Roof, The Producers, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Laramie Project, Sweeney Todd, and the all Spanish version of In The Heights directed by Luis Salgado. I am thrilled to introduce The Bold Type's next guest, Luis Salgado!

Luis Salgado is a Puerto Rican🇵🇷 performer, director, choreographer, producer, and educator. Luis studied theatre at the University of Puerto Rico and later moved to NYC to pursue his passion for musical theater. Since he made his Off-Broadway debut in 2003 in the musical Fame, he has been unstoppable. Luis has been part of Broadway shows such as the original cast of In The Heights, Rocky, On Your Feet, Women on The Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Mambo Kings. Luis was the associate director/choreographer of Cirque de Soliel’s Paramour in Hamburg Germany. He was also assisted in choreography for films such as American Gangster”, “Enchanted”, “Step Up 2: The Streets”. Luis has also worked as director/choreographer for shows in the U.S and abroad.
Luis Salgado is the founder and CEO of R.Evolución Latina, an organization that seeks to empower the Hispanic community through educational programming and partnerships. In 2011, he founded Salgado Productions, a production company committed to developing new works and creating "Art with a Purpose". No Peeking Theatre is a theatre company founded in 2012 by Mexican-American director Amanda Levie. No Peeking Theatre, offers an immersive experience by removing the visual aspects of the show by blindfolding all audience members. Audiences experience the show though different sensory elements such as sound, sense, taste and touch. In this episode, I spoke with No Peeking Theatre’s founder and director, Amanda Levie. He wanted to be jazz guitarist and moved to Boston to study at Berklee College of Music. However an injury that prevented him to play for 6 months changed his journey. Founded my Mexican-American Amanda Levie 🇲🇽 🇺🇸 in 2012, No Peeking Theatre offers an immersive theatre experience where you feel the show, NOT see it. HOLA is an organization that was founded in 1975 with the mission of advocating for an accurate, informed, and non-stereotyped portrayal of Hispanic culture, people in the entertainment and media industries. HOLA has evolved through the years and has expanded to creating: educational offerings to the Hispanic community of actors, a talent directory that strongly features Hispanic actors and the Hola Awards that celebrate the work created by Hispanics in the industry. Hola also offers a membership that provides workshops and resources for its members.

I am so excited about the next Our Gente guest!

Federico Mallet🇲🇽 is a talented Mexican actor and co-founder of the production company, Quemocion. He completed his BFA in Media and Communications in Mexico but decided that his true love was in the performing world. Federico's love for acting brought him to the U.S to study acting for film at the New York Film Academy. Since graduating he has been part of several shows and films. He is an active member of Teatro SEA, Village Playback Theater, and Something From Abroad. We are back after a short break with a new episode featuring a special guest. Valentina Berger is a producer and the CEO of Go Broadway. She is originally from Argentina 🇦🇷 and she moved to NY to study musical theater but she quickly realized that her dream was to be a producer. While working at several Broadway companies, she founded Go Broadway, a musical theater school and community that connects artists from all over the world with the top performers and theater-makers of the industry. In 11 years, Valentina has grown Go Broadway and expanded it to different theater hubs around the world, and created Go Broadway Productions. Valentina Berger was selected this year as one of the women to watch on broadway by the Broadway's Women Fund. She is a Member of the Broadway Women's Alliance, a Board member of the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors, HOLA, and she is a volunteer at CO/LAB Theater Group. In our talk, Valentina shared:

I am excited to announce Our Gente's next guest, Nikko Kimzin 🇺🇸 🇲🇽. ⁠

Nikko is a brilliant artist, creative leader and producer that is dedicated to creating a more inclusive and equitable world through his work. Nikko is an artist that is very bold and is not afraid to use his voice to speak up when something is not right. Tired of being cast in the same type of roles, he decided to take a moment to develop the skills he needed to be able to tell the complex and authentic stories he wanted to tell. He later founded Epoch Creative NYC, a company dedicated to producing work of artists of color where he co-wrote, produced and directed the hit web-series “The Great Black Way”, and “ . Nikko's passion for providing greater visibility to underserved communities, lead him to join the Transcendence Theater Company as Director of Education and Community Engagement from 2018 until earlier this year. This year, Nikko created his own consulting group that has a thriving client list that stretches from independent artists to powerhouse arts organizations to Google. ⁠

Valentina Berger is a producer and the CEO of Go Broadway. She is originally from Argentina🇦🇷 and she came to the U.S to study Musical Theater with a minor in Performance Administration. Her original plan was to finish her studies and move back home to build a stronger theater industry in Argentina. However, she stayed in the U.S and in 11 years she has built Go Broadway, a musical theater school that has received thousands of students from all around the world to study with the best performers and theater makers of the industry in NY. Go Broadway grew and opened Go Broadway Productions, where she has produced several shows in Argentina and the U.S. Her most recent production titles include Rent in Argentina, and The Minutes and Company on Broadway.⁠
