's #8: Get yourself into the holiday spirit and head downtown for the Festival of Lights! It's at the River Center Plaza this Friday and it's a great way to get yourself into the holiday spirit! Their 35 foot tall Christmas Tree and free ice skating make this a great event to bring the family too!

's #7: Visit Magnolia Mount Plantation for a park rich in history. It is an excellent example of the sort of architecture used on the plantations, and it has great collections and exhibits on display inside. It's a total of 14.3 acres that is nice to walk around in. The museum itself is currently closed for renovation, but that doesn't mean you can't stare at the outside of this over 200 year old building!

Magnolia Mound Hours Mon.-Sat.: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.Sun.: 1 p.m.-4 p.m.Tours are conducted on the hour from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Admission is only free to Louisiana Residents on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.
