Young writers! The 2022 Youth Poet Laureate competition opens NEXT MONDAY!

Are you a writer, poet, lyricist, or activist? Do you like to use your voice to spark change? If so, then keep reading! 😊

The National Youth Poet Laureate (YPL) Competition is an initiative of Urban Word in collaboration with local youth literary arts organizations across the country. The program identifies influential youth poets with a history of artistic success, civic and community engagement, social justice initiatives, and leadership.

During the Spring of 2021, the Nebraska Writers Collective inducted Mimi Yu as the first-ever Nebraska Youth Poet Laureate! Since then, Mimi has toured her poetry across the state and designed a community engagement project to bring awareness to the arts.

Now we are on the search for the next youth artist to represent the state in both regional and national competitions!

We will also be holding two informational workshop sessions: February 6th, and February 26th for those who may have questions or need additional help applying (more details to come).
