Time is running out and seats are going fast to join IMPA’s first “Retro Saturday” in-person event, 10 am to 2 pm, November 18, at The Malcolm Pray Achievement Center, 16 Bedford-Banksville Road, Bedford, New York.
The Center is opening its doors to us for an exclusive tour of the late Mr. Pray’s world-class vintage car collection so you can inspect up close some important automotive innovations of past decades. You’ll also learn about a unique connection between his cars and the Center’s support of kids in need ages 9 to 19.
The cost is $30 per person, with your advance reservation and payment made at https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=S72D3HLL53YVC. Each member may bring one guest (also for $30) and space is limited. IMPA plans to make a donation to the Center on behalf of its members. Payments must be made in advance and walk-ins will not be accepted. We also welcome our friends at NEMPA to join us.
Here are the details:
• The Center is about an hour north of midtown Manhattan and an even easier drive for members in Connecticut, Westchester or New Jersey. We can provide train information from the city.
• You may take the quickest directions to the Center or choose a specially crafted driver’s route through Westchester’s winding back roads that we will provide to attendees shortly.
• Please bring interesting rides of your own, either a personal car or a current new test vehicle, all of which we expect to line up on the front lawn. Parking is also available behind the building.
• We’ll be providing a gourmet box lunch from a well-known area caterer, featuring soft drinks, sandwiches, salads and dessert. There will be vegetarian and gluten-free options.
• The Center director, Marikay Satryano, will be on hand to provide information on the vehicles and the Center’s great work with kids.
• We expect to have some students on site to talk about their experiences.
• This event may give some of you content ideas on how cars can be used for educational purposes.
• This is a rain-or-shine event, since the collection and meeting rooms are enclosed.
