The Tezpur University campus to use as Institutional Quarantine centre; university community hall, the entire KV school complex and Patkai hostel will use for quarantine purpose. Tezpur University is a residential campus where not only students but also more than 500 residents live with their families. Now my concerns are:
1. When converting the campus to an institutional quarantine site, does the government and the university authority consider the safety of families currently living within the campus?
2. Do they have any plan to protect the people residing inside the campus from the possible spread of the infection?
3. Why the campus of a residential university why not a Stadium or other open places for quarantine?
4.What about the students who suppose to appear in their end semester in June? Is there any plan on how to combat the possible risk students are going to face or they have to give up their academic years?
The Disaster Management Act, 2005 provides for the acquisition of resources for the effective handling of crises, but not at the risk of spoiling the academic year of the students. I hope that the students and faculty members of the university will continue to ask these questions by considering the greater threat ahead.
