The exact way in which the horizontal section of the third funnel pipes on the Titanic was painted was a subject of debate for many years. Conflicting evidence caused confusion, but recent in-depth research has finally provided clear answers: Titanic left Belfast with the pipes above the third funnel deckhouse area painted in buff, including double rings on the pipes (expansion joints). However, during the week at Southampton dock, Titanic received a new paint job on the funnels and pipes, and the division line between the buff and white paint was shifted closer to the funnel. I revised 3D model and this rendering illustrates the final appearance of these pipes.

On Titanic’s forward well deck, on the corner where bulwark meet C deck front face bulkhead, there was special reinforcement “knee” (both port and starboard corner). Its form and size was wrongly depicted in the past, and recent researches has concluded correct shape and supports details. I revised my 3D model, and here is a rendering showing how it actually looked.

REVISIONS have been made to previously published renders of the Titanic's Parlour Suite Sitting Room C62 to improve accuracy and correctness. The room itself and nearly all of the furniture and assets have been corrected for sizing and dimensioning. Specific changes include an accurate pattern for the wooden floor and a carpet, added flower decorations, electrical fan, etc... The result is a more accurate representation of the original room.

Titanic - Parlour Suite Sitting Room C62 (Olympic C56)

Render #4: Forward-port corner of the sitting room.

This corner of the room featured a classic victorian writing desk designed to fit corner. Suite occupants would write letters, postcards or deal with other paper work there. During the day large porthole window would let plenty of light from the left, and for the night there is desk lamp to assist.

This sitting room was part of bigger suite and was “Louis XIV” styled. it was one of most lavishly decorated and the most luxurious rooms on the ship - First class as much as it could be!

Parlour Suite Sitting Room C62 - Titanic (C56 - Olympic)

A very special accommodation room, certainly one of my favourites because of so much beautiful oak wood-work on both walls paneling and furniture. This room (which was part of a bigger suite) was “Louis XIV” styled, and was one of the most lavishly decorated and the most expensive rooms on the ship - First class as much as it could be! Believing that this suite was occupied by Astors, Mr. John Jacob and Madeline, seams to be false and suite have stayed unoccupied.

This is just the first rendered view of this room, and I will show more of it in the following days.

I was able to improve historical accuracy of my previous Grand Staircase clock render with such a kind help of Michael Desorcie, Who provided me detailed up-close views of carved ceiling moulding segment. - otherwise it was very hard to recreate this intricate and delicate pattern fatefully, and that is clearly visible on this comparison image.

Thank you again Michael for all your help on this, it is much appreciated!

There are also other minor improvements on different parts of image like: World globe details under the foot of "Honour", extra carving detailing on angles wings and hair, overall shade of oak wood, and also refinements on the few more carvings and wood pieces...

Hope you'l like improved version. New HQ image here: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52156533696_638362fe26_o.png

Cheers!

A detailed closeup of probably most iconic wood art of the Titanic (and Olympic respectively), carved by Charles Wilson. Interestingly, he recalled that Titanic left Belfast without clock placed, and that circular mirror was put instead - But It is very likely that clock was delivered and installed when ship was in Southampton during final preparations for the maiden voyage.

Hope you’l like this detailed 3D recreation of mine, which I’m providing in adequate size for any smartphone wallpaper 😉

Grand Staircase of the Titanic

Those who are familiar with my Titanic work, knows that I rarely go under the ships roofs, but this exception is result of some previous commission I have done when I had to make part of this interior area, but privately I completed it for at least this one view. Although general geometry of my illustration is quite accurate, delicate carvings are not super authentic all over, but still very close, so I hope you may forgive some mistakes I made here and there…

Researches revealed some new insights of how some ship structure parts looked, so those are implemented into this new version of render for maximum historical accuracy:

1 - Officers quoters roof planking is now showing greyed out and slight darkening of pine wood due to weathering. This roof was used only by the crew and weren’t maintained in the same way as passengers decks were.

2 - Roofs of the navigating bridge and sidewing cabs are now smooth, painted in light to medium grey - same way as other waterproofed roofs on the different places on the boat deck.

3 - Two roof skylights of Marconi room and officers lavatory now are back to 2 paned sides. That is final conclusion after thorough research was made along with other researchers.

4 - Vents in the area are remodelled for more accurate dimensioning of their engines and ducts, including refining and addition of other structure details.

5 - Now Included few crew members and passengers for better scale effect and extra artistic appeal.

On this morning April 14, 2022, on a 110 anniversary of Titanic’s tragic event, I received this magnificent, long waited book… What a feeling it is to see my work in it.. I will not even try to describe.

Thank you Tad, Kent and Bill! Thank you so much for realising such important book, for all those readers to enjoy it, who still want to learn about her and keeping her legacy alive!

Huge appreciation to all fellow artists with whom I sharing pages of this book! It’s real pleasure and honour.

For all the lost souls 110 years ago, for a magnificent ocean liner that never had a chance… for lessons and legacy of that night that will never be forgotten.

Thank you all.

Viewing aft from Titanic's 2nd class covered promenade space on the B Deck - REVISION

Previously I have wrongly placed 3 benches beneath 2nd class smoking room windows, now I corrected that and placed deckchairs in this area instead. Also added water piping which I was missing previously in this area. There are other minor improvements too.

RMS TITANIC - 2nd Class Entrance Deckhouse

It was placed at aft end of Boat deck, and here was only exit for 2nd class passengers on it. Deckhouse contained main 2nd class staircase including elevator with its machine room in little house atop. Two big vents were exhausts of foul air from deep levels of ships machinery rooms.

I have corrected several errors on previously published render of 4th funnel area.

Link with updated image : https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51846525144_14c2802bd0_o.png

Log:

1 - New positions for two benches:
One (a) is short version, and it’s last known position is on starboard side of 1st class smoking room raised roof. Normally its place would be port of dog kennel door. Other one (b) is standard long bench that (I assume) was placed at the front of raised roof when it was moved from aft side of raised roof (its default place), to make room for one group of stacked deckchairs.

2 - Corrected style of doors on elevator case atop of the 2nd class entrance deckhouse

3 - Replaced porthole type on the elevator case atop of the 2nd class entrance deckhouse with correct ones.

4 - Added pipe lagging with bolted joint at the low section of forwards steam pipe of 4th funnel.

5 - Corrected positions of rollers on the corners of 1st class smoking room raised roof

BREAKING NEWS!
Some of you may have heard rumors of a new book that Tad, Bill, and myself have been working on. It's time to confirm those rumors, and to show off the final cover image that has just been released!

The book's title is: "Recreating Titanic and Her Sisters: A Visual History". It will be released next spring by The History Press in hardback format, and of a size comparable to the 'Unseen' series of books. The book will be full color, not black-and-white with a color section.

Throughout the pages of this book, we will be showing some truly stunning pieces by up-and-coming artists who have a passion for preserving the history of the Olympic-class ships and bringing them back to life through their art; we've been honored to work with these individuals, and their work has literally brought the narrative that we have written to life. We are also honored to have received a Foreword for this book by artist and visual historian Ken Marschall, whose artistry has inspired not only us, but also the artists that we've worked with on this project.

The narrative for 'Recreating Titanic and Her Sisters' will tell the complete history of the Olympic-class ships. All of the Titanic articles and books that we have authored or co-authored with our larger international team of historians and authors have now been 'distilled' down into their most direct and clearest form, and woven into this new volume.

Tad, Bill, and I will be preparing a pre-order section on the storefront of my own site, www.atlanticliners.com, where you will be able to order limited edition signed & numbered copies of this book directly from us as authors. Keep your eyes peeled for updates on that! We are strongly recommending that you pre-order from us sooner rather than later, so that we can make sure we order the right amount of stock from the publisher; additionally, we recommend that you make sure to get a first edition copy of this book, since subsequent editions may be in softcover format.

Please enjoy this formal release of the official front cover of 'Recreating Titanic and Her Sisters', and stay tuned for further updates! -- Kent, Tad, and Bill.

RMS Titanic - Tank Top Deckhouse Area

Lots of research that lasted for months went into this area of Boat Deck! Big thanks to Cyril Codus for all his great help with the research to finally outfit it right. And special thanks to Robert Read for his own research on scaffold board design and dome cover portholes shown here.

EDIT: Re-uploaded images with corrected vents design on aft walls of 3rd funnel deckhouse and Tank Top deckhouse.
