It's Fun Fact Friday! 💡 Did you know that Luxor Last Vegas, a hotel with an ancient Egypt theme, boasts the third-tallest pyramid in the world?

At 350 feet, it is shorter than just two of the pyramids in Giza. But the hotel's Great Sphinx replica is 40 feet taller than the original! Just below the mythical creature, doors lead to a giant atrium featuring historical exhibits, casino games, and elevators that travel between floors at a 39-degree angle.

It's Fun Fact Friday! 💡 Did you know that the majestic bald eagle can soar as high as 10,000 feet up in the air!?

Which brings us to another fact: They are able to spot prey from way up there using vision that is four times stronger than ours. While humans consider good eyesight to be 20/20, a bald eagle's is 20/5. Those "eagle eyes" can identify a small rabbit or fish from up to two miles away.

Last month, new radiometric dating data presented to the Geological Society of America showed that the lake on the California–Nevada state line could be 2.3 million years old. According to the new data, the only older lakes are Lake Baikal in Siberia and Lake Tanganyika in East Africa. It's Fun Fact Friday! 💡 Did you know that Arches National Park was once a dry, mostly flat seabed covered in salt? Millions of years ago, the park's iconic rock formations (like Delicate Arch, pictured) were still part of a raw sandstone layer buried deep. Over time, geologic forces pushed the sandstone up and fractured it. Then, countless cycles of water (especially freezing and thawing) and wind carved the stone into buttes, hoodoos, fins, and more. Western monarchs from as far as Canada head for California's Central Coast. At the Pacific Grove Monarch Sanctuary (pictured), the butterflies start arriving in mid-October and leave by early March, clustering in the eucalyptus, pine, and cypress trees. Another interesting fact? Because migrating monarchs have a six-month lifespan, this fall journey is each one's first and only. And yet, they know where to go.
