TERRORISM ON AMERICAN SOIL

June 1, 2021 is the upcoming 100th anniversary of the worst deadly and destructive single racist attack in American history. A thriving black community on the edge of Tulsa Oklahoma was totally destroyed by white mobs in a fit of rage that lasted two days. Almost every home and commercial building was burned to the ground, thousands were displaced, hundreds of blacks were openly murdered, incendiary "bombs" were even dropped from the sky from WW1 biplanes on the fleeing people.

This horrific story was almost immediately expunged from the "public" history of Oklahoma soon after it occurred. It was ignored in school history books across the land, and most people never even heard of it. Except for... the whispered stories shared among the victims. But even they avoided mentioning it to their children and grandchildren who were not born when it happened.

In about 2019 this story came back into the radar of documentary video directors, and this coming week several documentaries are finally being released about the subject.

But clear back in 2013, happened to run across snippets of the story in my research online, and began pulling together what information and documentation I could find, eventually writing a 10-part series I titled "Terrorism on American Soil" on the Massacre for my Meet MythAmerica blog. I happen to think it is interesting and well done. :) Especially since I had no research staff, no editorial staff, and no bankroll to do it. It was a labor of painful love.

Last September I posted on Youtube a documentary I had created on the rise of the QAnon movement. Down this page is a description and link to that video, that I posted on here at the time.

A few weeks later, just before the election, I completed a sequel to that video, and posted IT on Youtube also. It picked up where the first video had left off, bringing the story of Q right up to the present at the time, and explaining more details about the beliefs of the followers.

That video was TAKEN DOWN by Youtube within a few days, after accusations by followers of Q that it was "bullying and harassing" people with its content! This was nonsense, of course, because all it was, was a an overview the movement as chronicled in various standard news sources such as the Washington Post. I was even threatened with having my whole channel pulled from Youtube, that has documentaries on a wide variety of topics, from the Trail of Tears to the history of World's Fairs in America, if I posted anything similar to the video in question. So I did not try to follow up with any more material. Evidently, those Q people had never stumbled upon my original "Half-Baked Theory" video, so it was left up on Youtube and is still there.

I forgot to mention on this page at the time that I was able to post the follow-up video on the VIMEO streaming service instead. The Q folks haven't followed it there to complain, so it is still up there. You can see it at the following link.

My final post for Black History month... this is from one of my blogs named "AmeriQuotes." It is my brief overview of the disgusting reality of "Whites Only" hospitals in the Jim Crow era. We are not talking "segregated hospitals" with separate wards for blacks. We are talking No Blacks Allowed at all. Even... dying ones. Blew me away when I first read about it in 2015, which prompted this blog entry. We NEED to know this part of Black History in America. It's a part of America's "NOT so Great" past that we as a nation must openly admit, repent of, and eliminate the root causes of.

I share this link below from my "AmeriPics: An American Family Album" blog today as a contribution to black history month. MOST stories for the month are positive ones about wonderful accomplishments of blacks that have been neglected. But we NEED to know some of the darker stories too, to understand where we as a society have been... that got us to today.

I posted it on Youtube just yesterday, and it already has had more views than most of the videos I’ve uploaded over the years. The QANON topic is trending all over the world right now, with people eager to try to understand this exploding phenomenon!

In early 2018 the phenomenon referred to as QANON was barely a blip on the radar of even the mass media in the US. The average citizen had never heard of it. For the few people who *had* heard of it in mainstream society, it appeared to be nothing more than a wacky conspiracy theory that was only appealing to a small segment of Americans, the same types of folks who dabbled in looking for Abominable Snowmen, or still fussed over trying to pin down exactly who killed JFK and why, even after over 50 years had passed since that tragedy.

But something happened in early 2020. Suddenly evidence of the existence of QANON started popping up where it was getting noticed, particularly at the campaign rallies of Donald Trump. And then came the summer of 2020, when suddenly articles about QANON became almost daily fodder for news outlets all over the place, from CNN to the New York Times to Rolling Stone magazine. (And even across the oceans, in Europe and Australia.) It was no longer at the fringes of society, it had barreled into the center…and was circling around the White House.

Brief descriptions of “what it’s all about” appear regularly in news articles now, but I believe a deeper look into the background, history, beliefs, followers, and influence of QANON will be more valuable to anyone who wants to more clearly understand…that QANON may have a profound influence on the election of 2020, and power to change the trajectory of American society long after.

This first episode in a multi-part series is titled “QANON: Pre-History of a Half-Baked Theory.” It goes in some depth into the background that led up to the emergence of QANON from the dark reaches of the Web. My latest DocuCommentary is now available on my Meet MythAmerica Youtube channel. I am starting a new "miniseries" that is called "The 2020 Twilight Zone."
This is "Episode 1: Down the Rabbit Hole. "

DESCRIPTION:

In early 2020 the Lincoln Project, a group of Republicans who were totally disillusioned with the presidency of Donald Trump and wanted to prevent him from being elected to a second term, began producing and airing a series of very creative and edgy brief ads designed to thwart his campaign efforts. One of those ads was titled “MAGAChurch,” and highlighted the unholy alliance that had developed between the Trump Administration and a large portion of those in positions of influence and power in American Conservative Evangelical Christian circles.

A number of these leaders appeared in brief clips in the Lincoln Project ad, saying preposterous things in support of Trump. But it wasn’t possible in such a brief time to give more than a cameo appearance to each. I created this 2020 Twilight Zone episode titled “Down the Rabbit Hole” to be a companion piece to that short ad. It provides details of the Rest of the Story behind each of the influential people who appear in the MAGAChurch ad, in order to emphasize just how toxic the combination of Conservative Religion and Conservative Politics has become in 2020 America.

(I am currently working on Episode 2, which is the first of several episodes that are a Deep Dive into the QAnon movement that is so prominent in the news right now. The first part of that will be available early next week.)

The War on Christmas segments on the FOX news channel have become an American Christmas season institution for 16 years now. Usually right near the beginning of December the FOX pundits begin gathering to announce that, just like the never-ending war in Afghanistan, the War on Christmas is still raging, and to discuss reports of the conflict from the front lines.

Their breathless reports blame “secular progressives” for undermining Christian values as part of a grander scheme to lead the United States down the path of sin and collectivism, all starting with attempts to undermine the celebration of Christmas in America. As one online article puts it:

“Liberal pundits respond to Fox’s ‘Christmas Under Siege’ segments by mocking conservatives and getting cheap laughs at the general silliness of it all.

Few however, have addressed or taken seriously the broader politics of which this phenomenon is a part. The war on Christmas is more than a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory…it is a gateway into a conservative politics that exalts capitalism, racism, and nativism while attacking the Left. This has been going on for so long now that the average American knows nothing about when and how it all began. “

Say WHAT?? Racism and nativism? What on earth is this all about?

My daughter Mona just posted this link. This is to a nine part blog series I wrote in 2013 , about an event in 1921 whose "anniversary" is today. You want to see "property burned" by rioters? For NO reason? And not just a neighborhood, but a whole community of black people. BURNED TO THE GROUND. Churches, schools, businesses, homes. TEN THOUSAND left homeless. By white people. FOR NO REASON. And make no mistake... this was the "worst" of this kind of thing, but it happened ALL OVER AMERICA in smaller doses for over a century. And NO ONE was ever held responsible, no one went to jail.

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW HAS NOT COME OUT OF NOWHERE. Its roots are far deeper than most white people realize. As is mentioned in Hosea 8 in the Bible, White America has "sown the wind, and is now reaping the whirlwind." We've had generation after generation to make it right. We never have. Lament for the Nation.

MY CONTRIBUTION IN HONOR OF NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH:

One of the very first video DocuCommentaries I made for my Youtube Channel is a deep dive into the background and details of the Cherokee Trail of Tears story.

In 2007 we moved from Michigan to Rome, Georgia, but didn't realize for several years that we were basically right on top of the "beginning" of the Trail as it is memorialized in plaques on highways from Georgia to Oklahoma. "Major Ridge," the Cherokee Chief who "sold away" the rights to the Georgia Cherokee land (and was later assassinated by his own people in Oklahoma because of it) had a plantation about 2 miles down the road from our house. It is turned into a Native American museum now.

I had been woefully unaware my whole life about the tragic story, but after visiting that museum in 2012, I was astonished at what I learned, and went home and began devouring all the info from the Internet I could find. It was the first topic that really prodded my research into some of the darker sagas of our American history. And I felt compelled to make a video about the Trail story to help raise awareness.

At one point we moved for a short time to another small town named Cedartown nearby... and discovered that at that point we literally lived a few blocks from the location of the "holding fort" that was used to round up the Cherokee in the area. The Cedartown fort was the farthest point south, the very beginning of the Trail. The Natives were taken from there and marched north toward Chattanooga where others were gathered from all over northern Georgia to be forced all together on the way to Oklahoma.

Part 5 of my Strange Brew video DocuCommentary series is now available on Youtube. Titled “Manufacturing a Revival,” it begins a new section of the series.

The STRANGE BREW Series is an examination of the weird symbiosis of GOP Politics, Big Business, and Evangelical Christianity during the presidential administration of Donald Trump, which is affecting a wide swath of US issues including the climate change and ecological crises debates, public education, economics, civil rights, social justice, and even gun rights and gun control.

The term Strange Brew is particularly a reference to the odd conglomeration of special interest groups whose votes in 2016 combined to unexpectedly, and seemingly against all odds, thrust Trump into the presidency. The groups varied from disillusioned blue-collar workers who felt left behind by the mainstream of both political parties, to industrialists eager to support someone who would roll back both taxes and regulations on their industries, to Christian groups eager to roll back the Supreme Court’s past rulings on abortion and the rights of g**s.

The word strange in the series title particularly refers to how strange it is for these groups to find common cause in such an unusual leadership choice. You would not historically expect unemployed blue-collar workers and millionaire and billionaire business people to be in harmony in choosing political leadership.

The first four episodes of the series discuss the features of this strange brew that have been observed starting with Trump’s entry in 2015 into the race for the presidency and going clear up to the present.

Starting with this episode, “Part 5: Manufacturing a Revival,” the series jumps backward in time, investigating clues that reveal the unusual and unexpected historical origins of the merging of right-wing politics, libertarian economics, and conservative Evangelical Christianity that characterizes both the current Republican party and the presidential administration of Donald Trump.

I have been immersed for a couple of years now in creating what I call DocuCommentary videos for my Meet MythAmerica Youtube Channel. Most of the subjects I research for these videos are a bit gloomy… the Cherokee Trail of Tears, Civil Rights, the administration of Donald Trump, and so on. Since early this year I have been working simultaneously on research and writing for two even darker subjects, the history of Anti-Semitism (in the world and in the US up to the present) and the history of the gun rights movement in the US. At one point last month, this all overwhelmed me to the point of depression, and I decided to take a break, put the topics on the shelf for a few weeks, and create some “fun” videos for myself for a while.
I have had a hobby for the past 20 years of doing research and writing about the American World’s Fairs of the past two centuries. I have gathered a small library of books and videos on the topic, along with an archive on my harddrive of millions of words and thousands of photos from the Internet on the topic. So I have now begun turning the results of my research into videos about the fairs. Just this past week, I presented the first video of the series to a discussion group my husband and daughter and I meet with here in our home area. It was very enthusiastically received and led to a lively discussion of almost an hour. So I thought some of the followers of this page might find it of interest also.
