Fear is one of the most powerful teachers our kids will ever meet. Not the kind that shuts them down, but the kind they learn to walk through with shaking hands and hopeful hearts.

When we gently expose children to challenges that make their voices tremble and their courage rise, we show them that fear is not a stop sign. It is an invitation. An invitation to grow, to discover what they are capable of, and to build confidence that lasts far beyond a single moment.

When we stand beside them, guiding them through the nerves, we are helping them shape a future where they believe in themselves even when life feels uncertain.

Every time they choose to move forward while afraid, they are not just being brave
they’re becoming.

I can’t believe this was two years ago. Torrey couldn’t even reach the rudder pedals. Now he’s performing rolls in the sky. Time is a thief, and no one tells you how beautifully heartbreaking it is to watch your kids grow up. One day they’re small enough to fit in your arms, and before you know it, they’re chasing dreams that once seemed a lifetime away.

Parenthood is this delicate mix of pride and ache, cheering them on as they take flight while quietly missing the days they needed you for everything. The truth is, every stage slips away too fast. One chapter fades quietly into the next, and all you can do is hold on, be present, and marvel at who they’re becoming.

Building trust with our kids is where confidence begins. It’s not about pushing them to be brave, it’s about showing them they’re safe enough to try. Every moment we meet them with patience, consistency, and love, we give them the courage to stretch a little higher and believe in themselves a little more. Trust is the bridge between fear and confidence, and we build it one moment at a time. Watching Layla start scared and build her confidence over time has been one of the proudest moments of parenthood.

Like so many parents, we’ve had our battles with video games. The constant screen time, the familiar “just five more minutes.” It’s easy for screens to take over; they’re exciting and endless, but I’ve noticed how they can quietly drain my kids’ energy and shift their mood. The spark fades a little. But when we get outside, when they’re flying, exploring, or just laughing in the sun, that light comes rushing back. Their confidence grows, their smiles last longer, and the tension melts away. It’s a reminder that childhood wasn’t meant to happen behind a screen, but out in the world, full of wonder, movement, and connection.

I’ve read the stories and seen the comments from people who had bad experiences flying with pilots who jumped into aerobatics too soon, without taking the time to build trust first. I understand how unsettling that can be. Flying is an incredible experience, but it’s also deeply personal, especially when it involves your child.

For my son and me, this journey has been about patience. We didn’t start with rolls or loops, we started small. Roller coasters, gentle turns, short flights. Each moment was a chance to earn a little more trust, to understand each other’s limits, and to build a foundation of confidence and respect. You don’t just take your child up and throw in a roll on day one. Trust like that takes years. For us, it’s been 11 years of flying together. 11 years of laughter, communication, and gradual growth.

Building trust with your child, whether in the sky or on the ground, isn’t about rushing toward the big moments. It’s about slowing down, listening, and making sure they always feel safe enough to take the next step with you. When you do that, every flight becomes more than a thrill. It becomes a shared journey built on love, patience, and mutual trust.

Torrey set his sights on thermalling to 12,000 feet. The G’s tested him every step of the way, but he pushed through — and when he finally made it, the joy on his face said it all.

Hey everyone!

It has been brought to our attention that another page is pretending to be us. So we need your help getting it taken down! Please report this page as pretending to be us. If enough people do, we will be able to take it down.

We spend a lot of time creating these videos and it’s disappointing to see someone take our videos and pretend to be us.
