with the intention of a swift recovery accompanied by a complete and lasting cure for Umm Idries - beloved wife of our respected teacher and mentor, Shaykh Abdul Aziz Ahmad. She has been in hospital for almost 6 weeks, much of which was in the ICU.

May Allah release Umm Idries from the hospital and reunite her with her husband and son with renewed strength of body, courage of heart and vigour of mind; make this period of her life one of purification of body and soul, and elevation of her rank in both abodes - all for the sake of the Prophet ﷺ.

The Keighley Munshids

Our good friend and singer-in-arms, Tamoor Hussain and The Keighley Munshids, have recorded this live rendition. It's an extract of the Burda sung to a popular tune found in the diwans of the ancient mystics.

And check out the hand drum. Nice looking duff, ya munshideen!

Alahamdulillah the full group performed together last night after the hadra.

After solo and dual renditions of various Burda melodies, this one in makam Bayat required the vocal harmony of a full group performance, with a touch of a daff beat.

You'll notice at the end we improvised with a new tune. An appetiser of part 2, which will be released tomorrow
