Surrendered and Set Free

The power of God’s loyal love completely and irrevocably removes sin’s guilt and grip over us, his yielded children. Jesus echoed this when he said, “If the Son sets you free from sin, then become a true son and be unquestionably free!” (John 8:36). When we surrender to Christ, he liberates us in his strong love.

Think about how your surrendered worship of God has moved you into greater freedom. Have you tasted the goodness of knowing how incredibly delighted the Father is over you? Have you experienced the peace of God that transcends understanding and seeps into your very soul? The incredible power of God’s love that sets the captive free and makes the lame dance in unabashed joy before him is yours to experience. May you worship and honor the Lord with the grateful heart of someone caught up in the wonder of his marvelous mercy.

Joyful Jesus, in your love, I come alive. I want to know even greater freedom in your presence and in my lived-out spirituality. Transform my guilt into the testimony of your goodness. I love you.

I Hear His Whisper...The time for change has come.

Eternity is now flooding into time. This season will be the most productive and powerful season you have ever witnessed, for I am hastening my word to bring it to pass. Long-dormant promises will now spring to life, as I bring you through the most rapid changes you have ever experienced.

The changes that are upon you will demand that you trust me more. In the stretching of your faith, you will find me as never before. Get ready for the kingdom of joy to come, even while dark shadows linger over your circumstances. Leap for joy, for in that leap of faith, you will find my presence. All Will Be Revealed

The fruit of our lives will become apparent not only to us but also to others. If we will keep planting seeds of righteousness, then we will harvest righteousness in our lives. If we sow seeds of bitterness, then bitterness is what we will reap. Paul says it this way in Galatians 6:7, “God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest.”

What we give our energy to, we will see in our lives. What we tend to will grow. Let’s give our focus to fellowship with Christ, and let’s give our attention to the values of his kingdom. Seeds of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and goodness are valuable crops in our lives. Faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control serve us well. Let us take our intentions and cultivate them with our actions in the soil of God’s grace.

God, you are a skilled gardener, and I want my life to be full of your fruit. I yield to your leadership, and I submit to your pruning. Show me what needs to be removed and where I need to tend to my own garden, and I will do it.

Have your way, Lord, in me. Transform me from the inside out so that I can reflect the glory of your mercy in my daily life. The only thing more complicated than death is resurrection. I never fully understood this pain until I lost my son, twice.

I was speechless for a season about it, knowing few could stomach my heart’s cry. My laments too fierce, my despair too real, my grief wasn’t exactly “on brand” for my joy-filled, grace-laced communities.

We’d been trying for a year and a half, but I’d told no one. I’m not sure why, other than I didn’t want to have to admit that I wanted another child if I couldn’t have one. Secure in my identity as I thought I was, I still wanted to be perceived as competent in all aspects of life—even in my family planning.

The unfruitful months went on and on, and I began to make peace with the idea of being a single-child family. Those who are blessed to know my daughter, Bella, understand. She is so much more than enough. But she had so much love to give. And so did we. So we kept on in faith, hoping God wouldn’t give us a desire he wouldn’t fulfill.

And suddenly, there they were. Two little pink lines on a test, like two arms raised high, testifying to God’s faithfulness. Still, we told no one. It felt too precious, too new to share.

We kept the secret until we couldn’t any longer. Roughly twelve weeks in, I knew something was wrong. Symptoms compounded, pain set in. With exactly zero context from my first textbook pregnancy, I built my case with God.

God, if you choose to take him, I won’t fight you.

But if you let me raise him, I promise I will love and lead the child straight back to you.

I trust you, no matter the outcome.

But I’m believing for a miracle...

I have not left you on your own to get through the highs and lows of this life. I built you for connection with me, and you have it. Spirit to spirit, you have access to endless grace to empower you to strength. My Spirit is alive within you, acting on your behalf. Today let the purifying presence of Holy Spirit lead, guide, and strengthen you. I am your very present help, not only working in the world outside of you but inside you as well.

The greater your weakness, the more room for my Spirit to work. I will empower you with my mercy to not only persevere through trials but to also rise up with might. The power of my love is your endless resource of strength in every circumstance. My Spirit within you not only ministers to your heart, but it also rises up within you on your behalf, offering prayers that you could not think to pray. You are covered, every part of your being, with my goodness. I am all around and within you. Let this mystery lead you to press in for more.

Shepherd of All

There is no one in this world whom Jesus does not love fully and completely. He wants everyone to look to him and be saved. “Turn your heart to me, face me now, and be saved wherever you are, even from the ends of the earth,” God says in Isaiah 45:22. First Timothy 2:4 puts it even more succinctly: “He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth.” Though not everyone will choose to do it, the invitation goes out to all.

In this world, we like to congregate in groups where we feel safe, seen, and accepted. We all want to feel as if we belong somewhere. The love of God does not exclude anyone, so let’s be sure that with our faith we are not building walls but bridges. The Shepherd of All will gather his people from every tribe, nation, people group, and language. As we wait for that day, let’s open our hearts and our homes in loving hospitality to others.

Jesus, you are the King over all. I will not withhold my kindness from people, no matter their differing background.
