Ascending the Mountains

Let go! As you climb from desert to mountaintop, from the place of your undoing to the place of victory and refreshing breezes, let it all go. With each step you take, leave behind the pain. Forsake the right to be angry. Refuse the self-pity. You’re becoming stronger. You’re beginning to remember who you are.

You weren’t created to remain in the desert. Seasons change, and it’s important to recognize when they do. If you shut your eyes and grit your teeth thinking things will never be different, you’ll miss the beautiful journey to the mountaintops. Open your eyes. Look where he’s led you. Your suffering has made you beautiful because you tucked yourself securely in his love. You are standing in the place of victory, so let your shouts of celebration be heard!

Father, don’t let me get stuck in a mindset of hopelessness or discouragement. Don’t allow me to wallow in the murky waters of defeat. Lead me to the mountains of joy and refreshing as we walk through the archways of trust. Here in your love, I’m becoming stronger, realizing you’ve never left my side.

When Dwight and I said, “I do,” we stepped onto a wild rollercoaster ride that would either make us, break us, or both. Since Dwight came from a family of neglect and emotional abuse with a manic-depressant mother who controlled through her anger and I came from a family of marital infidelity between my mom and my pastor, we found ourselves cycling in loop-to-loop pain.

Believers in messy families (which basically includes everybody who breathes) want to shine God’s light and make a huge Kingdom impact; but what do you do when your triggers tweak your weak and you find yourself needing more than a verse and a prayer to thrive above the snake line?

A marriage can survive a lot of things—but what makes it thrive most is God-hunger.

I know this because I’ve lived it. And this is our story—not of our marriage being perfect, healed, or painless—but how Jesus, my first Husband, showed up in the ruins, rewrote the script, and invited me into a love deeper than human vows can reach...

I Hear His Whisper...Follow through.

Your word has sealed whatever you have vowed to do. Do everything in your power to follow through on it. When the going gets hard, lean into my love for the strength to press on. There is a season to sow and a season to reap, and I am the season keeper. If you are looking for wisdom, you will find it in me. If you have any questions, lay them out without restraint. I will answer you.

Listen to me, child. If you are looking for a way out, you will find it. My loyal lovers know that the easy way is not the same as the right way. Do not look with the eyes of this world that seek a swift solution to discomfort. I am asking you to align with my wisdom that leads you in perfect peace, whatever the condition of the path. Perseverance is a marker of faith in action. When the temptation arises to give up on the good that you set out to do, remember that my unfailing mercy never gives up. Clothe yourself in humility and integrity, and follow my lead as you faithfully fulfill your responsibilities.

You can count on me to work out my promises in your life. What I say, I will do. Follow my faithfulness through the ages and you will see that no matter what circumstances say, I am always operating and following through on my word. Beloved, let your heart take hope in my loyal love today. I am constant and true, and you will see the light of my life breaking through for you.

What are your hopes set on this day? What is your heart depending on? Come into the sanctuary of my presence where my glory lights up every shadow. This place relieves the pressure of doubt. Let the breath of my Word fill you with the strength you need to live a life of abundant love. I promise that I will never leave you or forsake you. I am leading you along the path of my mercy that leads to everlasting life and freedom. Feast on my Word as a famished child would devour her bread. I Hear His Whisper...I love you because you are my child.

I love you simply because you are my child. I enjoy you for the same reason. I didn’t create you so you could run around doing my bidding. I created you because I want to share my love with you. I desired you and held you in my heart before you were formed in your mother’s womb.

I didn’t create you so that you could do something for me. I simply want to pour my love into you—without reservation. It’s a love so deep, it is hard to put into words. This is how I feel about you. You weren’t born with a to-do list from me. I didn’t create you on a mass production line. I started pouring love into you when you were in your mother’s womb. Follow the Fruit

When it comes to wisdom, we should be aware of the path we find ourselves on. Are we walking in the ways of this world, or are we following the path of laid-down love that Christ first walked? There are no perfect people to follow, but there is a path consistently walked by those who follow Jesus’ wisdom in their lives. When they mess up, they seek forgiveness and work to make amends. They live out the belief that restoration is partnering with God’s heart of redemption. They are merciful and compassionate to all kinds of people. They are kind to others, and they don’t make power plays.

Following the way of Christ is worth it. It is not easy, but no one promised that the wise way would be. To live a life of integrity and mercy is not what most people choose, though that’s no reason for us to give it up. Christ sees every movement of our hearts, and he will reward what we do in secret, including the many sacrifices we make along the way.

Loving Lord, I want to walk in your ways and follow your truth. I don’t want to have only the appearance of being good. I want to live connected to your values of mercy, repentance, restoration, and justice.
