Kuna gani da yin wannan aikin na filin jirgi da kuma kashe wannan makudan kudin wajen shawo kan matsalar mutanenmu musamman wutar NEPA, talauci da kuma harkar noma wannene yafi?

Over a week ago, I distributed 9000 bags of grains - 6000 bags of rice and 3000 bags of millet - to my constituents in Yobe North Senatorial District. Those who benefited from the intervention were from 60 wards across the six local government areas in my constituency.

The intervention targeted the poor and most vulnerable who were worst hit by the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the federal government. Muslim religious groups, Christian communities and Persons with Disabilities were also amongst those who benefited from the distribution of grains.

The intervention was undertaken by my foundation - The Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (SAIL) Empowerment Foundation - to complement efforts by the Yobe State and Federal Government in ameliorating the sufferings of our people.

While delivering a speech to flag-off the distribution of grains to my constituents, I encouraged Nigerians not to lose hope, as the current hardship caused by high cost of living is not permanent. In fact, it is a price we must pay to have a better Nigeria.

I also used the opportunity during my short visit to my constituency to handover the newly constructed Federal Science and Technical College, Gashua, to the Yobe State government. I facilitated the establishment and construction of the institution last year under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. The Yobe state government is in turn expected to hand the institution over to the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education.

The Federal Science and Technical College, Gashua, has several ultra-modern facilities to provide students, teachers and administrative staff with the required learning and work environment.

Among the facilities provided are: an Administrative block, staff offices, two blocks of offices, a library, 500-capacity auditorium, laboratory complex, a clinic, 5 blocks of female hostels, 5 blocks of male hostels, sports complex with offices, 3 twin-blocks of classes, 1 block
