After a marathon of weeping and sobbing over episodes of Modern Love (the podcast and the TV series), two hopeless romantic broadcasting students Riggs and Mikaela decide to make their own podcast inspired by the idea of collecting real-life stories. On that day, the Sincerely Yours, podcast was born.

Although they loved the idea of listener-submitted stories, they also wanted other listeners to still be part of the community. That’s why they decided to also collect questions and prompts from their non-submitting listeners.

Being both Filipino immigrants in Canada, what these two aspiring content creators really wanted to do is put the spotlight on overlooked people and their overlooked stories. They grew tired of the same stories being told over and over again by the same mainstream persons. It’s time to bring back the power of storytelling to whom it really belongs: the people.

Get to know us!

Riggs Zyrille Vergara has always surrounded himself with the craft of telling stories. When he was younger, his nose was either stuck in a book or glued to a screen watching his favourite TV shows. He was always delighted to listen to the grandparents’ memories and his teachers’ anecdotes. But what made him more in love with stories is when he started telling and writing them himself. He started with his campus paper from high school and college, until he became published on local newspapers both in Canada and in the Philippines. Amplifying that journey, Riggs opened himself to go beyond print and enter the digital world of videos, sounds and images through his Broadcast Media Studies program at Mount Royal University.

In the Sincerely Yours podcast, he will help you breathe life to your story. With your trust and collaboration, he will make sure that the story we hear is a story that stays with people’s hearts and one that you will always look back on with a bright smile. Through his years of journalistic and creative writing, he will also guarantee that your story will not only be told in the most moving and fascinating way but also in a way that’s most respectful and truthful to you.

Mikaela Delos Santos’ mom has always known that she will be a part of the Broadcast Industry. In the Filipino culture, the concept of ‘lihi’ is a prominent belief amongst pregnant women. Lihi is the belief that whatever a woman craved or liked during pregnancy will present as a characteristic in her newborn. According to her mom, while she was
pregnant with Mikaela, she would always watch news broadcasts and read magazines and newspapers which led her to believe she is destined for that industry. Growing up, Mikaela was known as a shy and reserved kid. After moving to Canada from the Philippines at the age of 14, she has grown confident and found her voice.

Currently studying as a Broadcast Media Student at Mount Royal University, she hopes to pursue a career in the lifestyle, culture, food, and fashion sector of the Broadcast industry. Along with this, she also hopes to pursue international career endeavours.

In the Sincerely Yours podcast, Mikaela is and always will be a friend, sister, and daughter. She will listen to you, laugh with you, cry with you, and maybe even sing with you. With your trust, consent paired with Mikaela’s bubbly and kind personality, she will help you convey and tell your story with a pure and genuine heart.

It’s a podcast anthology series dedicated on collecting, telling and exploring real-life stories of love, life, struggle and recovery. Our team is open to receive these stories from anywhere. No holds barred. We aim to create opportunities to centre true stories that resonate with all types of people, no matter who they are.

Our aim is to create a community of storytellers. With the ability to send questions about each episode’s story, we are also furthering our connection to our listeners.
