Karimganj Police have seized narcotic substances worth Rs. 3.5 crore in Karimganj district and arrested three persons in connection, a senior officer said.

The police recovered at least 563 grams of he**in from 52 soap boxes.

Police have been interrogated the trio to unearth further links in the interstate drug trafficking. Further investigation is underway.

According to sources, the raid was carried out at the tea garden office of Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha. Karimganj Police have seized narcotic substances valued at around Rs 1.5 crore in Karimganj district that were coming from Mizoram, officials said.

Superintendent of Police in Karimganj, Partha Pratim Das told “We intercepted a vehicle on Thursday night at Kandigram area adjacent to Badarpur town. The drug peddlers were bringing four packets of Yaba tablets in vehicle. The consignment was coming from Mizoram and vehicle also had registration of neighbouring state.” The police recovered a total of 40,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle.

A robbery incident took place in Sonabarighat, Cachar where two people looted money from a hardware shop by showing gun. The incident took place on 14 September at around 9.05 pm. The whole scene has been recorded in CCTV camera. Police is now investigating into this matter.

Based on secret information, Police intercepted a vehicle which was coming towards from Sonai at Dholai's Khulichara village and recovered and seized a huge amount of Yaba tablets worth 20 lakh and arrested four person in connection of it. The vehicle has come from Mizoram to smuggle the seized items but they failed. The arrested persons are from Mizoram and among them one is from Cachar.

Based on secret information, police officers led by Officer-in-Charge of Amtali Police Station, Ranjit Debnath, and other police, TSR, and BSF launched an operation at a resident of Milan Miah in the Charipara area on the outskirts of Agartala near the India-Bangladesh border, raided his home and recovered 62 grammes of he**in, 900 yaba tablets, and 5000 empty vials. The market value would be approximately Rs 5 lakh.
