Kenneth Warren Davis passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022, at the age of 85.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Katherine M. Davis, as well as his sons and daughters-in-law Glen and Susan Davis, Kyle and Karyn Davis, Robert and Jennifer Ingenito, Michael Ingenito, and Bridgette Godown. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Roger Davis, sister-in-law Elizabeth Davis, his eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends. Ken is preceded in death by his parents Warren and Geraldine (nee Coville) Davis and brother Philip Davis.
Ken was born in Webster, Massachusetts. In 1954, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as a radioman and received an honorable discharge in 1962. While serving as a U.S. Coast Guard Reservist, he attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA, where he received a bachelor’s degree. Continuing his education at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, Ken received a Master of Arts Degree in 1966 and a Master of Science Degree in 1968.
Throughout his life and career, Ken earned several academic and professional distinctions. He became a 3rd Degree Free Mason in 1959 and was Master of Webster Lodge A.F. & A.M. in 1965. His professional accomplishments include membership in Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, and work on gamma-ray technology that is still being used in the practice of medicine today.
Ken was a loving husband, generous father, and grandfather. A friend to many, he had a sharp wit and enjoyed taking his boat out on the lake, hiking the Smokies and Appalachian Trail, watching Rutgers Scarlet Knights football, collecting art, woodworking, gardening, photography, and trips to Costco.
A memorial celebration of life is being planned at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church in Sun City West, AZ, on June 1, 2022 at 11am. There will be a live stream of the service for those who cannot be there in person. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Kenneth W. Davis to Hospice of the Valley online at hov.org/donate/ or by mail to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
