Representing the Philippines in Miss International 2022, Hannah Arnold, says she's appreciative for her journey. The Masbate-born beauty queen placed top 15 of the 60th Miss International Pageant, showcasing her elegent beauty with talent.

In her lengthy instagram post, she shared how honored and thankful she is to represent the country and to be supported by the Filipinos all the way to Japan where Miss International Pageant was held.

"Ue o mireba kagiri nashi [or] there is no end [or] limit to what you can achieve [star emoji] This is a Japanese proverb that helped me overcome many challenges and find Hope over these past weeks,” Arnold said. “It is something I wanted to share to the international community on stage but I share it today instead, and do so while happy and content.” Arnold remarked that her time as Miss International was "absolutely unforgettable", and added that it had been an honor to represent the Philippines for the previous two years.

“It may seem cliche but I will truly be returning home with a grateful heart, a camera roll full of irreplaceable memories, many new sisters and mamas from around the world, and the realization that we truly can achieve anything. Philippines, it was an [honor] to wear you across my heart, for the past 2 years. I am proud to be Filipino. Mahal ko kayo,” she captioned.

The 26 year-old beauty queen, Hannah Arnold's time as Miss International came to an end in the Top 15 on the pageant's crowning night, while Jasmin Selberg of Germany won the title.

FOOD PILL FOR POOR FILIPINO: FEASIBLE OR NOT?

Food crisis has been a long-term problem of the Philippines. Since the inflation rate in the economy has been unstable for centuries, food production and distribution to citizens is inadequate. Currently the inflation rate increased to 8% which affected all class of people specially the underprivileged. Public officials attempted to solve the said issue but unfortunately failed. During the confirmation hearing of Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., Sagip party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta said that the food pills, or the same food that astronauts eat should be given to the poor to suppress hunger.

In regards to the proposal of Rep. Marcoleta about the distribution of food pill to the less fortunate class of the state, we strongly disagree. We do think that this proposal does nothing but detriment the impoverished. According to different researchers, it is proven that the food pill can cause harm to people’s health. It is stated on the same research that the scientists found how high fiber foods can tell the body to stop eating. Those high fiber foods are not enough to sustain the nutrition that our bodies need and if our bodies lack nutrition the energy that we need to exert for work wouldn’t be sufficient. It’s a common knowledge for everyone because since elementary school we have always been thought about what we need to eat for our bodies to fully function. Also, the food pill should have a vast amount of money budgeted for researching, production, and its distribution. Considering the food crisis that we are experiencing shouldn’t we focus on providing real food rather than researching over food pills which isn’t guaranteed?

Stipulated by the proponent that the goal of this food pill project is to resolve the need of food for poor filipinos. The goal is actually great bearing in mind that there is scarcity of supply happening in the market. Rep. Marcoleta, as we have noticed, didn’t consider the pros and cons of the said solution. Though this was just the representative’s thoughts, it shows how incompetent he is in his field. As what have the famous spider man said “With great power comes great responsibility”. Being in politics is a huge responsibility, public officials should observe themselves since they have the economy’s future on their hands. People shouldn’t run in positions without proper knowledge, they’d end up like those politicians who just talks without pondering over the words spurting out of their mouths. We would want to agree to all of the people saying that “The government is turning into a circus.”

Due to involvement in serious human rights abuse, United States Department of Treasury slapped sanctions on televangelist and Kingdom of Jesus Christ leader Pastor Apollo Carreon Quiboloy on December 9, Friday.

The said religious leader is just one of over 40 individuals and entities across nine countries sanctioned for being linked to corruption and human rights violation.

In a press release posted by the US Treasury Department on its website, Quiboloy is accused of allegedly engaging in a pattern of systematic and pervasive r**e of girls as young as 11 years old and other physical abuse.

The US Treasury designated Quiboloy pursuant to EO 13818 being a foreign person who is responsible for serious human rights abuse. With these sanctions, all properties and assets of Quiboloy within US are blocked.

Quiboloy was indicted in 2021 for conspiracy to engage in s*x trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and s*x trafficking of children and is currently included in the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) wanted list.

National University (NU) Pep Squad reclaimed the UAAP cheerdance title on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

A “cheer-obics” inspired theme brought back NU at the top of the pyramid after failing to bag the three-peat record earlier this year.The cheerers of the collegiate league danced and soared in front of 18,029 roaring crowd to the old pre-pandemic routine of six minutes.The bright and colorful routine of the now seven-time champion garnered 723 points and dethroned the defending champion Far Eastern University (FEU)

FEU, which paid homage to the late Francis Magalona in its full routine, couldn’t retain the title and was four points close to NU, sending them back to a first runner-up finish with 719 points. University of Santo Tomas Salinggawi Dance Troupe earned 640 points with pop icon Lady Gaga for its theme, took the second spot after missing out on the podium for five years. The UE Pep Squad climbed one spot higher who supported the OPM local group SB19 and danced to its popular songs and bagged the fourth place with 606.5 points. Host-school Adamson Pep Squad’s theme revolved around ‘Reinvention’ and shrugged off first-performer jitters with a fifth-place finish with 595 points. Last performer UP Pep Squad went for a combination of pop and hiphop with its Black Eyes Peas- inspired routine and came in sixth with 575.5 points.
